Cover Trickle

everything to do with Movie Sheet templates

Re: Cover Trickle

I see you have Parent Sheets and Parent's Parent sheets. I have used the Parent sheets but I am unsure of what the Parent's Parent sheet will do.

Also, if I have a trilogy folder it won't create a sheet for that folder. Will it stop the trickle from working?
Ice Age Trilogy (no trickel sheet)
--->Ice Age (trickle sheet)
------>ice age avi (movie sheet)
--->Ice Age II (tricke sheet)
------>ice Age II (movie sheet)

etc....

Is there a way to create a trickle sheet for the main Trilogy folder?

"Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent Folder" if for movies Folder sheets (Extra Sheet in thumbgen)
"Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent's Parent" if for the folder containing the movies folder (Parent Sheet in ThumbGen)

This is where you would use the "Parent's PArent" to create a sheet for the "Ice Age Trilogy" folder
When you are creating the sheet for "ice age avi " activate the "Parent sheet" tab in thumbgen and select my "Parent's Parent" it should create a sheet in the "Ice Age Trilogy" folder

Fabulous. I'll finish what I have going now and do the Parent's Parent once completed. That will be great.

I can't make it trickle. I see the thumbs at the bottom but it stays on the first one from the first movie. What am I missing here?
It works well inside some of my folders containing 2 or more folders with a movie in each. Those trickle.

are you talking about the "Parent's Parent" template?
or the other one?

The templates works finding all the "folder.jpg" files that are 1 folder up (Parent) or 2 folders up (Parent's Parent)
and showing them in the same order the WDTV sorts the folder/movies (alphabeticaly)
If it does not find any "folder.jpg" inside the current folder you are making the sheet for, it will default to the 1st (sorted) folder found

Like I said the the requirement, you need a "folder.jpg" in the folder before you generate the sheet, this is valid for all my templates
except "Buhric - CoverTrickle - TV - Episode".
In its case you need a movie thumbnail (moviename.jpg, or episodename.jpg) if theres none, or it does not find one, it will again default to the 1st one found

But the template might have a bug that could be causing this.... in this case I will need more info....
like template name, folder structure that is causing the problem, including filenames and contents of folders...

OK. I think I may be doing something wrong but here goes.

All my folders that contains only 1 movie are like this:
Image
The template I used for this is the Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent Folder

None of those will trickle. As a matter of fact, 10000 BC is the very thumb I see on my TV with none to the left of it and 9 to is right. Before 10000 BC I have 9 other movies but none show as thumbs. Even if I show the sheet for 88 Minutes
Image
The thumb in first place is still 10000 BC.

All those thumbs are placed as yours are in a trickle position but won't trickle.

I am set to STD for my sheets and I am viewing as Thumbs. If I use Thumbgen default sheet, I see the folder sheet and if I enter the folder I see the movie sheet. No thumbs at the bottom.

Using Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent Folder with the same view (thumb) and still in STD mode for my sheet. I see the thumbs at the bottom that should trickle but won't.

Here is one that work from inside the parent's parent. It is under the main name "Jurassic Park Trilogy" When I enter the main folder "Jurassic Park Trilogy" I see this

These 3 movies, when viewed on my WDTV Live will, will trickle inside that main folder. I will see the Folder Sheet for Jurassic Park II and the appropriate thumb for that movie will be in the correct location.

If I am missing some info I will try to fill it as required. I think I should have everything covered.

Quick info, the WDTV will show "10000 BC" before showing "88 Minutes" since "1" comes before "8" in alphabetical order
Windows, in the other hand "thinks" and knows that "88" is smaller that "10000" thus showing "88" first.... if its folder order

Could you list here the name of the 9 moives that are before "10000 BC" has Windows shows it
and
the order of the thumb has shown in the sheet itself

Well this could be the problem or have something to do with it. In Windows Explorer here are the movies
Image
but in the menu of the WDTV on TV you are right, 10000 BC comes first. Could there be something with the naming convention? Is that a bug that can be fixed or it that something I should rename to have 10000 BC first?

I had to disconnect my HDD from the WDTV to do this. Over the network it was just taking toooooo long. But connected to my PC the order of the movies isn't the same as on TV.

Whatchu think?

well that is it.

on the PC you have them sorted numericaly
2.13 --> 3 --> 9 --> 12 ..... 10000

on the WDTV it will be sorted alphabeticaly
10000 --> 102 --> 12 --> 17 .... 9
This should also be the same order that the thumbs get generated.
so In PC the sheet's thumbs will not be in the correct order, but on the WDTV they will be in the correct order...

And I'm not aware if theres a way to make them match, have the same order in PC and WDTV

But I just re-read your last comments.... are you saying that the sheet fot let's say "300", shows "10000 BC" as the center thumb ?

Sort of. I don't have a center thumb. Or should I say I don't have any thumbs on the left of 10000 BC. 10000 BC is the one that would be center if there were any on the left. Right now it looks like this
Image

Notice 3 Pigs and a Baby is the third thumb on the right.

What I am redoing now is renaming my folders before 10000 BC and adding 10000 to each so 2.13 will now show as 10002.13, 2012 will now show as 12012. So they should now appear the same on the WDTV and the PC.

Lets see if that work.
