RSS news feed on UMSP would actually be a really nice addition to this player. I hope its possible to implement it!

There is already a "Reader" plugin that does this. Draws images of your RSS feeds.

Haven't used it, but you can give it a go. There's also the Daily Podcasts plugin that displays media RSS feeds.

There's also (somewhere on this forum) a WDTVExt plugin I wrote which displays slashdot.com RSS feed. It was a proof-of-concept to show that it was possible to get and display RSS feeds with WDTVExt (with some limitations though).

http://www.howtogeek.com/164375/why-google-reader-died-4-alternatives-to-rss-readers/

Summary: Do you really want to read everything a publication writes? Normal people certainly don’t.

I'm yet to migrate away from Google Reader, but I guess time is ticking away. Need to settle on an alternative by the end of the month.
