I compiled it through Optware so it's linked to libc from optware =

Code: Select all
# ldd /apps/noip2/bin/noip2
   libc.so.0 => /opt/lib/libc.so.0 (0x2aacc000)
   ld-uClibc.so.0 => /lib/ld-uClibc.so.0 (0x2aaa8000)

gimme a sec and I'll upload a fixed app.bin with it linked to libc in /lib

Why did you do this?
An app.bin should be "standalone" and not depend on optware.
It might depend on other app.bin's though...

By looking at the linked libraries it should be no problem compiling this against std. libc used by WDLXTV.

PS: Why did you compile noip and create an app.bin atall when you are running optware? A simple ipkg install noip should have done the trick... :ugeek:
Code: Select all
# ipkg list | grep noip
noip - 2.1.9-1 - www.no-ip.com Dynamic Update Client

I will add it to repo if it's confirmed working...

After downloading different ".app.bin" files of the no-ip app I managed to find one that worked for me. One that actually updates the IP if it's started manually after WDLXTV powers up. Also it seems to monitor properly the IP changes and submit updates with every change.

I managed to create even a script in init.d folder to force the automatic start-up (and it really starts; I can see it on in the process list once the box powers up) but here I have a problem. The IP is not updated in that case (at start-up) Maybe the application starts to early before the network is on. I'm not sure why the automatic start-up does not update the IP. Maybe somebody can help with some ideas.

Please keep in mind I have very limited knowledge of Linux.

Is there an APP that would update the IP with the NO-IP servers regardless if there is change in IP or not. The current app I use sends an update only in case the IP changes.

Sounds like your script starts when WDTV has not yet established network connections.
You might try to add online.delayer command to your start script, read this thread for some more information:

You can also probably schedule a cron job to submit the current ip every day, even if it doesn't change...

You can't write to /usr/local/etc. Point the configuration either to your USB drive, or to /conf/
