Network problems

Postby RVD26 » Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:41 pm

My player (version 1.05.04 - 0.5.1.1 just lost network capability all of a sudden.
It won't connect to the network at all.
I noticed that the IP address is way off, so I set it manually to the correct one.
However, it says that the subnet mask is not correct.
I have no idea what the subnet mask is supposed to be.
Any help?

I'd recommend, first let it connect on DHCP, doesn't mater what IP it gets, just make sure it connects to the network

once it's connected go into set up and manually change the IP address to whatever you want

I'm sorry, but what is DHCP? I googled it, but I'm still not sure what it means.
How do I let it connect if the network connectivity does not work at all?

WD might use the term auto

Weird, it seems to be working now.
Not sure what fixed it.
I have noticed that my remote control will not turn it on anymore.
I have to unplug and then plug back in the cord for it to turn on.
Is this thing slowly dying?

I spoke too soon, I'm having the same problem again.
It will not let me do a network setup automatically.
And when it was "working" it was working very slowly.
I think this player might be toast.

if it's only networking issue, I doubt it

try rebooting your router
then
clearing all networking info from the WD
then reboot and see if you can get it working

if that doesn't work

you can wipe /conf and start completely over

if you're on wireless you can try an ethernet cable or vise versa
