WDLXTV LIVE Firmware Flashing

1.03.01 is already the latest firmware for Gen1. Editing the .ver file to reflect a higher number is only done to trick the WD to recognise an update and let you flash the firmware, this doesn't have anything to do with the version of the firmware you install.

You still get a new firmware found because of the ver file trick. The wdtv thinks the firmware on your usb is newer than what is it running and it is prompting you to upgrade.

After you upgrade, it will show the internal version number (which is independent of the ver file).

So, there is no issue - just remove the firmware files from the stick after the update.

ok - i'm going nuts here

i have done everything i can - and it won't update.

i;ve got a gen2 wdtl live plus with 1.06 firmware

ive d/l the latest b-rad - formatted a usb to fat and fat32

copied the 3 files to the root

updated the ver file as per the readme file ( copied and pasted exactly 0

yet when i hard reboot it doesn't recognise the usb

I'm trying to flash the wdtv live but somehow it isn't able to read the any homebrew firmware. I tried to see if the media player that I bought was supported or not (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=330). When I looked at the machine it says WDTV Live Streaming but I'm still not sure if it is exactly WDTV Live. It starts with different model number than the typical "Live" in that it is WDBHG or something instead of AA. Just wanted to know if the homebrew version is suppose to work with it or not? I followed all the steps with inserting the usb fat32 and even upgrading the version but it is still not able to see the firmware. I'm using the latest official firmware for that machine which is 3.10.xx. I tried all the Live homebrew version but none worked. =(. Any help is much appreciated!

That's the new WDTV Live Streaming (aka gen3), it's not supported by WDLXTV.

Will this ever be supported? I just bought myself this newest model and while it's a great unit I'd still like to mod it.

I have WDTV Live with the latest firmware and want to instal a custom firmware, i folowed the instructions but the WDTV wont load the firmware... any ideas?
