thanks, i haven't looked into it yet, i don't seem to be having this issue...or, i don't know exactly what it is that is not showing. i'll need to be able to recreate the issue before i can try to fix it. i'll take off filename and see if i see anything different. in the meantime, if you could explain to me again what the issue is that'll help me understand it. thanks

@jumbalaya - remember I used the config_tool to set the values and not though an OSD menu. For example, when I browse from My Videos, Local Drives, sort by folder, to USB2, I see two folder symbols but the folder name is missing for the highlighted folder. How can you set the background to jazz's? Here what I did. I downloaded the .jpg, renamed it villa_bg and copied it to the root USB. Is a reboot required?

as i said before, i don't seem to have that problem. all the filenames are showing for all the folders.
i don't think the filename setting could have anything to do with it honestly. when i make a setting, i associate that only to the xml's that are affected. in this case, the only xml i used was sheet mode so the music thumbs and the filenames of every other view will not be affected by this change.

if you are in sheet mode and you have 2 folders, say movies and tv, and you have the filename turned off, these 2 folders will lose their filenames also. there isn't any way for me to separate that according to what folder level you are on. my suggestion would be to just make a moviesheet for these folders also. maybe one with just some random covers and the title "Movies" at the top, just like the glass sheet template.

yes, i think that's how you can change the background. if you're unsure about a reboot, just go ahead and do it.

Yes, a reboot is required.
The only solution where you can "live" change a background is in 1.02.21 fw with wdtvext and a Tools>Cnahge Background plugin/script... but that's a different story...

hey jazz, if i add some backgrounds in like i did with psychothc mod you will be able to change backgrounds on the fly through the WEC (no boot required). i wasn't sure if people really wanted that so i never added it.

No, there's no need for adding such option, cause it won't be able to change it with remote (as with wdtvext), just through WEC...

still easier than rebooting, but maybe people wouldn't use it much anyway.

Hey Jumbalaya. Whats the background you used for the blue colour theme for this OSD?

Wow! I love Picto III!
Yes, it glitches the progress bar when you're watching pictures, and flickr is full of black squares, but the eyecandy and the sleek is so much! i love it!

I didn't see any video, so I made one...
