where would you get the german trailers or for that matter other languages,

I'm not opposed to the idea, in fact being able to select a language would probably benefit a lot of users
but imdb international sites do not appear to have any actually trailers, only film info

or then again I speak american  so maybe I didn't quite understand what I was looking at
for the record I also speak Indonesian

any other website would probably become a separate plugin

I don't know, how you fetch the trailers but there are a lot of german trailers on the web.
e.g.
http://www.moviemaze.de/
http://de.filmtrailer.com/
http://outnow.ch/Movies/Trailers/

for me it isn't essential to use your plugin. I understand english as well but for many people who doesn't it would be a benefit as you mentioned.
maybe an idea could be...
If i hit the search button on a movie a list pops up. There i can select the web souce for searching trailers and afterwards the aviable trailers can be selected.
This searching list is editable in the WEC maybe. If there is nothing on the list added it goes automatically to the IMDB.

As I said... only an idea. I love this plugin anyway :D
Great work. THX!

tossing this out and see if somebody has an idea

while v 2.1 does have some speed improvements
I'd like to be able to speed up the general browsing and navigation while using this plugin

the slowness is at folder level, using this line

Code: Select all
var metafile = executeCmd("find '" + media.path + "' -maxdepth 1 -name '" + media.name + ".*.tgmd'",this.debug.Lib);

anybody know of a replacement for "find" that would be any faster
only reason I'm using find at the folder level, is I don't know the movie file extension yet
the meta file would be something like Batman.avi.tgmd and of coarse it could be any possible file extension .avi. .m2ts .iso .mkv , etc ........

your thoughts?

I have absolutely no expiriance in codeing, so i can't help you in this case.
But generally... why is it nessesary to search trailers in browsing mode?
Download the trailer is also a goodie, but uses space on the disk. Why should I download them, when I can catch it asap online?
Maybe in my oppinion would be a solution when you use the "find line" afterwards hitting the search button.
If there is no trailer aviable... bad luck. And searching during the browsing mode wouldn't change this issue.
Anyway I have deactivated the trailer picon because it disturbs my movie sheet 8-)
thats an input from a noob

LOL, that line is used to find the metafile containing the IMDBID for the movie

this is done before we can even begin looking on line to try and find a trailer

btw, I did look at a couple of those site, they would not be easy to do, no api's
they would involve screen scrapping, some of the material would also need to be transcoded, which the WD doesn't have enough power to do on the fly

okay... understand. noobs don't cry  my fault!
btw... I don't generate tgmd's and it works also fine with your plugin.
maybe nothing new for you, but I dosen't know that I have to generate them.
in the past it works perfectly without them.

search order
1. Local Trailer
if Local Trailer not found go to # 2
2. IMDBID found inside the .tgmd file
if .tgmd file does not exist or does not have an IMDBID go to #3
3. IMDBID found inside the .nfo file
if .nfo file does not exist or does not have an IMDBID go to #4
4. Search based on file/folder name
my personal experience with search by name is that is only yield about 25% hit ratio and sometime find the wrong trailer
it's a blind shot in the dark, run search by name, select first film found, then select first trailer found

if a valid metafile exist I get about 90+% of my movies find an IMDB trailer and the othet 10% are not on IMDB at all

the slowness only exist with folder level using find for .tgmd
at file level, we know the extensions and don't have to search for the file, we just assign it
with .nfo they don't use file extensions and so we don't have to search for the file, we just assign it
