Media library is "default" WD feature, which can be indeed found by using your television under "settings".

Concerns WDTV Live Gen3 (in my case WDBGXT...)

Is there any updates regarding flashing the WDTV Live Gen3 device to the WDLXTV fw?
I face the same problem as many others when trying to up-/downgrade the basefw to wdlxtv verisons. For me it's from basefw 1.06.04 to the latest wdlxtv 1.05.04_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.1.1 (and yes I've tried all the advised usb formatting, reboots and version changes)

I notice earlier in the thread that a new encryption is mentioned for the gen3 witch might prohibit the ability to flash this model.
Can anyone confirm that it's actually don't work with the wdlxtv fw so I could stop struggling and hope that it will, and wait for the good guys to find a way.

Better look on the wiki. The Gen3 is not supported by this firmware because WD chose to encrypt most of its firmware.

If you want to run wdlxtv, try to return your Gen3 for a Plus

I'm a newbie here.. I bought a WD Live TV Streaming Media player and I don't think the custom firmware works on it. I have tried 3 usbs, fat, fat32, exfat, every "fat" format I can find, power-cycled, manually find an update, but it doesn't work..

I'm a newbie with media player flashing but I am an experienced mobile flasher so yeah, I know how critical it is to follow the steps in the correct order and perhaps the power recycle options as well.. Can you tell me if there is something that I'm missing? Or is this custom firmware not compatible with my media player?

WDLXTV is not compatible with Live streaming (aka Gen3), because WD decided to encrypt a good portion of their firmware to prevent homebrew firmwares. Sorry.

I have been trying to figure this out for the better part of the day, where any firmware update attempt would be stuck at 0%, seemingly forever.

A little trolling on the internet, and the answer is to quickly unplug and plug back in your USB device, while the unit is trying to update. Within about a minute, the update started.

This worked for me in both downgrading and upgrading firmware.

Hope this saves you troubleshooting effort,

Can't believe it, it worked at all, but ... hhhmmm, I didn't expected so much while reading your post.

Thanks a bounce my friend, you saved my day ;-)

hi,

i am new to this forum... i just started using wdlxtv for my wdtv gen 1. i already flashed to 1.03.01 wdlxtv 0.5.8.1 and it works fine. yesterday i had some time to read many interesting threads here and i noticed that i could use wifi with my wdtv. luckily i already own the recommended usb wifi stick. so i downloaded/created/edited all the required files and copied them on a freshly formatted 8gb usb stick. i changed .ver file so firmware info is 1.04.01 instead of 1.03.01. my wdtv booted from the stick and found the new firmware. it restarted after i choosed to update, then progressed to 100%, restarted again but then i saw i didnt update correctly, it still uses firmware 1.03.01 and offers me to update again. i searched the forum and the wiki for possible reasons for this... i tried formatting again, changing usb ports,... it is still the same issue. any idea what i can do now to update and use wifi? any hint or help is greatly appreciated.

regards
macondo
