This is the place to ask for how to use software that is (or isn't) included in the various wdlxtv flavours. Questions about software such as rtorrent, NZBGet, sshfs, curlftpfs, ssh, telnet, etc.

Thanks!

here is what i have done so far:

1.
Code: Select all
dd if=/dev/zero of=/boot/swapfile bs=1M count=100

2.
Code: Select all
mkswap /boot/swapfile

3.
Code: Select all
swapon /boot/swapfile

Code: Select all
dd if=/dev/zero of=/boot/.swapfile bs=1M count=100
reboot

It should be named .swapfile, aka dot swapfile.

to see if you kernel support it:
Code: Select all
zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_SWAP

"swapon: /boot/swapfile: Function not implemented"

Obviously your kernel does not support swap.

If your WDTV supports a swapfile, WEC will show you an option allowing you to create the swapfile, under Advanced: Swapfile on the Main tab. It will let you create it with the size you enter.

I never claimed it would increase download speed. I mentioned it because memory errors were mentioned, should take care of them.
