UMSPProxy 1.0 - Virtual Machine proxy

I have built a VM (Virtual Machine) that is setup and ready to act as a proxy for the UMSP plugins that require an external proxy for transcoding (such as Tou.tv).

You will need to have Virtualbox 4.x installed on your PC. The VM can be adapted to VMWare, but you will be on your own there as I haven't used VMWare in years. They have a conversion tool on their website that should do the trick - you might need to first rename the .ova as .zip, and extract the .OVF file, which can then be converted into a VMWare compatible file.

Make sure you read the included README on how to properly install and use this! Especially the networking configuration you have to do after you import this VM appliance.

I just tried this and it gave me this error:

Cannot access the kernel driver!

Make sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully.

Hi, i just download, import,configured network, change the path in wec with http:192.168.10.106/proxy.php , and when i start a file from umsp plugins was working, and the second also, but ihave this message:

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

but it is working, i`m afraid to restart!!!

Try changing the VM acceleration settings. I expected settings such as VT and Nested Page support to automatically be disabled if your CPU didn't support it, but maybe VirtualBox doesn't do it properly for some settings. The VM worked fine for me, and I had no report of issues from the 4-5 betatesters who also used it.

This is normal, since there is no index.html/index.php default page, the Apache one shows.

Hi,... mabe it is normal but i make a mistake, i press from remote enter in state ofplay appear a small guy and explain me: i`m not in him country, wich it is true. but the plugin do not work anymore.
solution 1. i have to change the country
2. i have to change the plugin i restart wdlxtv-u, i restart proxy....nothing

Thanks RMerlin, I tried another virtual machine and got the same message, got it for all my virtual machines in fact.

the fix, reinstall Virtualbox and the extension pack, it is up and running fine now.


sorry for not trying that first but it's the first time virtualbox has messed up on me in any way, I used it, then upgraded it last weekend and this was the first attempt to run any VM since.

This has nothing to do with UMSPProxy. The proxy is nothing more but a stream transcoder. It does nothing related to country blocks.

nice to see this released into the wild

maybe I'll now see the numbers move on the experimental plug-ins although I think I missed what folks actually want; with 11K hits on YouJizz its obviously a fwap party and not History Detectives - who knew

anyways, for those interested I have an end-to-end on Amazon VOD and will be posting that this week along with an update to the WD Viacom solution having gotten beyond the 180 second reset

both of those solutions need a slightly tweaked proxy, same codebase. I left a back-door in the last version to provide extra arguments but to keep it clean and more obviously re-usable I've updated the script

I'll post the proxy separately as well as with code updates to the archives for each plug-in
