Ok. getting really frustrated with my wdtv live atm. Tried putting the .bun and .ver of a lot of different live versions on my flashdrive which is FAT32 formatted. I put the flashdrive in and then do a hard reboot and nothing... What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure you have a Live and not a Live Plus? Did you increase the version in the .ver file?

no, it is a wdtv live. and ok, i'm not extremely computer smart but when you say increase the version do I have to do something crazy or just download a different file. Currectly I'm trying to run 1.03.49_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3 and getting no where.

And BTW, the latest version is 0.4.7.3.

OK so I tried to download 1.02.21-WDLXTV-Live-0.4.7.3 [flash] but got the error:

I downloaded 1.02.21-EXT3-Boot-Live-0.4.7.3 [non-flash] instead and extracted the files to my FAT32 USB Stick:

I inserted this USB Stick into my WDTV Live and nothing happened.

I Powercycled, and still nothing happened.

I tried taking the files out of the 1.02.21_WDLXTV.COM_EXT3-BOOT_LIVE-0.4.7.3 folder but with no effect.

People say to update the wdtv.ver file to a higher number but this file wasn't included in my download.
If I need to download the first version that isn't on the download server can someone please provide me a mirror site?

What am I doing wrong?

The ext3-boot version you tried can NOT be flashed (which should be obvious be the [non-flash] tag...
You can boot a ext3-boot firmware from usb once you have flashed any version of WDLXTV.
