I'm not all that good with asm, and even less good with mipsel asm so I wasn't sure where this would lead to...started out by disassembling dmaosd to try and find where the thumb gen code was located and if it was even possible to fix. I headed off in the wrong direction a handful of times, but eventually found the subroutine that generates the thumbs. Little (LOT) of pen & paper trace out, referring back & forth to mips asm guide, and then light bulb went off overhead. Essentially there was a loop that counted slashes in the path name, and if that length was less than 6 then NO THUMB FOR YOU!
Now to find a real challenge!
