re all,

OK, just updated the app.bin for download (thanks B-Rad for the opt.bin.tgz! it works!)

i've tested python and the interpreter now starts. also other programs like 'mc'
the only problem i've noticed is with 'zsh' that gives the reloc error, any other package?
i think that's the last outstanding bug to squash, all seems ok and easily installed.

ciao

Hello,

I can't download wdlxtv_optware.app.bin from http://ftp.dyne.org

Firefox says:
550 Can't change directory to /hdsync/tools/wdlxtv_optware.app.bin: Not a directory

Total Commander says 550 permission denied.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Got reloc type 0x2f installing optware-devel
Code: Select all
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/wdtv/cross/unstable//optware-devel_6.8-10_mipsel.ipk
wget: can't handle reloc type 0x2f
Nothing to be done
An error ocurred, return value: 22.
Collected errors:
ipkg_download: ERROR: Command failed with return value 1: `wget    -q -P /opt/ipkg-R7hArD http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/wdtv/cross/unstable//optware-devel_6.8-10_mipsel.ipk'
Failed to download optware-devel. Perhaps you need to run 'ipkg update'?

Any ideas?

EDIT: Using latest b-rad's opt.bin image
EDIT2 : workaround copying debian's wget over opt.bin's

quick re-briefing:

1- http://ftp.dyne.org/hdsync/tools/wdlxtv_optware.app.bin is now reachable (1MB download)
2- the above includes binaries provided by B-Rad in this thread, plus binary wrappers and installers to solve path problems
3- testing on my boxes shows there aren't fatal problems. reloc errors seem to be an exec path issue and are solved after logging out and in again

optware-devel installs BTW, i'm just installing gcc ATM :) running my beloved ZSH 8-) and even compiling C code directly on the box :P
so i'm quite happy with current status: i can keep doing whatever i planned to do before starting this adventure, using optware stuff
(the problem is now remembering what i really wanted to do, that i needed optware for, ooopS! )

please note the WDTV optware repository on the NSLU site is a bit confused (where is git now?!) and probably under development,
hoping the Packages file will reflect changes soon and things will stabilize.

this app.bin will stay beta for a while, i'll monitor the changes and try to fix bugs, if there really is something to fix :ugeek:

ciao!

"- the usb storage *needs* to be ext3 formatted
but this doesn't means that you need the ext3 version of firmware
- this port builds the /opt directory inside your usb storage"

what with .rootFS (ext3) on harddrive? This is work without any modification, or i must change something (i want /opt directory with optware in my .rootFS/opt)??

if you run .rootFS you might as well just rsync the contents of the opt.bin i provided into /opt.

firmware- 1.02.21.wdlxtv 0.4.5.3

I've tried optware today.
Initially had trouble installing and configuring,as the scripts were setting environments and path improperly, due to my 2 disks (one ext3 and other vfat).
Manually edited and fixed that issue.

Finally ipkg and list commands started working. :o

But,when I try to install packages, only few got installed successfully without errors.

Most of them report errors:

Code: Select all
# ipkg install digitemp
Installing digitemp (3.6.0-1) to root...
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/wdtv/cross/unstable/digitemp_3.6.0-1_mipsel.ipk
Installing libusb (0.1.12-2) to root...
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/wdtv/cross/unstable/libusb_0.1.12-2_mipsel.ipk
Configuring digitemp
Configuring libusb
Configuring ncurses
sed: unmatched '/'
sed: unmatched '/'
postinst script returned status 1
ERROR: ncurses.postinst returned 1
Successfully terminated.

Saw the same pattern in many. The same sed errors.
I think, wherever that "confuiguring ncurses" step is required, all those packages are failing.

any solution?

Other thing,I found in the error is ,when it uses any other path (for eg: ipkg-web needs to write to /home and it failed) like /home or anything else which is read only.

I think,to utilise optware in a better way,I need to use the ext3 firmware.

Another error sample.ipkg install dstat:

Code: Select all
Installing ncursesw (5.7-1) to root...
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/wdtv/cross/unstable/ncursesw_5.7-1_mipsel.ipk
Configuring bzip2
sed: unmatched '/'
sed: unmatched '/'
postinst script returned status 1
ERROR: bzip2.postinst returned 1
Configuring dstat
Configuring libdb
Configuring libstdc++
Configuring ncurses
sed: unmatched '/'
sed: unmatched '/'
postinst script returned status 1
ERROR: ncurses.postinst returned 1
Configuring ncursesw
Configuring openssl
Configuring python
Configuring python25
Configuring readline
Configuring sqlite
Configuring zlib
Successfully terminated.

Hi all..

I'm on the 1.02.21.wdlxtv 0.4.5.3 firmware and the latest optware.app.bin. I've got the same problem as above. Whenever installing ipkg packages I get the following error:

Code: Select all
Configuring bzip2
sed: unmatched '/'
sed: unmatched '/'
postinst script returned status 1
ERROR: bzip2.postinst returned 1

Is there anybody who has a solution?
