Questions about shares and web gui

Postby bender6681 » Tue Jan 18, 2011 9:50 am

Hi, First time poster here. I have a G2 running the latest firmware. I cant seem to get the webgui to load. I have ran other firmwares on here that have a web gui. Is there a way to make this work? Next I cant seem to get nfs shares to show up. SMB works fine but has a problem running mkv files. What is the best and easiest nfs server for windows and how do I set it up? Last thing is when I try to play a movie that is unsupported or has some sort of problem I have to reboot the whole thing to play anything else. What causes this? Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry if any of these questions are to noob.

The G2 doesn't have a web server built-in, so it has no web interface.

You can get part of it added through enLiven (http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2107), however it hasn't been updated (yet) for 0.4.5.3.

As for an NFS server under WIndows, search the forums - there are tons of posts on Hanewin.

Thanks for the reply. I now have my nfs shares mounted but it seems to still have an issue. First issue is that if there are more than 5 items to display it says there is no media in the folder. I am also having issues playing mkv files. I have read about demuxing them to turn off header compression but i cant find anything explaining how to use the tools to do it. Is there a guide somewhere?

EDIT
I figured out how to remove the header compression but i still cant play mkv videos over nfs shares. Still cant see anything in the share if there are more than five items to display. I really really want to watch my movie now. I dont know what else to do.

for playing MKV file over NFS, try turn off Media Library, and video in list or preview mode (not thumbnail), your share should be there under USBx. I don't know why but this is my case anyway.

I turned off media library and that helped load the folders quicker but still getting no media found when trying to go to my share that has more than 5 items listed. Have tried this with all 3 view modes as well.

one more thing you could try is to turn off display file size (together with media library off). Also why dont' you try with 3 shares first. I have 4 NFS network shares and doesn't seem to have the same problem (though they are show up under USB1 for me, because of media library off).

I just read up on CIFS-Interceptor from http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/How_to_setup_CIFS_Interceptor, I will give it a try.
Also, Somewhere in the wiki page, someone suggested to turnoff jumbo frame.

sounds to me like you might want to add proto=tcp to your nfs's xmount options

I guess CIFS_interceptor only work for Live or Live Plus device, not G2 device, since there is no "network share" item in the video menu.
I will try tcp protocol. Has NFS (client) version differ from G1 to G2 device? I also have G1 device and xmount NFS share using the (default) udp protocol
without problem playing the movie like the G2.

I have made some progress, with a combination of proto=tcp, set video output to 1080p50. Now I am able to play any movies that the G1 was able to play.
List mode or thumbnail mode doesn't make any different. I think the 1080p50 did the trick. I haven't try to see if Media Library on would make any different yet. I am happy now. :D
