Downgrade to official firmware How to?

Props for making such a nice working firmware. But i want the official firmware back on my device. I have searched in the forums and wiki. The website says. the answer is in the wiki but the answer is not there.

I have already tried to put the original firmware on usb stick and hoped it will magically downgrade my wd device. But this hasnt worked. Can someone please tell me how i go back to original firmware?

copy all wdtvlive.* files (ver, bin, & fff if available) to usb key formated to FAT/FAT32
USE HP USB FORMAT tool google :-> "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool"

or under linux mkfs.vfat

dont use NFTS its better to use better supported well known FS like FAT

Vista is using exFAT also PE2USB is able format USBkey to FAT16/FAT32

if is not recognized new firmware change VERSION to higher release

probably you should change to

Oops must have read over it.....

Anyways big thanks for responding so quickly. I had some lockups when streaming and reading dirs. The whole device locks up and it needs a power cycle. Could have been after i tried to change the osd. Or its my network. Could be one of the 2. To make sure i want to go back and install the extreme firmware afterward

if you change to 120x160 view it crashes and requires reboot, thats a high priority on my list to fix. I think its the only view that does it. If you found another one and remember do let me know

It was after i installed the psychothc_mod_05_9_6.osd.bin. some icons where visable. But in the thumbnail list everthing without foto were gone. The system rebooted automatically and the orignal osd was back. Then with streaming apple videos the system locks up and needed a power cycle.

anyways original firmware installed trying now.

Brad i wanted to confirm this in order to ....downgrade to official firmware we have to Rename the contente of the original wdtv.ver
which has
VERSION='1.02.21'
LOCATION='wdtvlive.bin'
PKG_LOCATION='wdtvlive.pkg'

to

VERSION='1.20.04.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.2.0'
LOCATION='wdtvlive.bin'

??
or do we only have to chage the ver to ?
