I had that happen too. I uninstalled hanewin (backup the exports file to make life easier after) reboot, delete the folder, reinstall it and don't use a keygen to register, that seems to be what messed it up.
since I did that I haven't had any issues, I just get the popup box telling me the unregistered version has expired, please register, yet it continues to work fine..

RevDrew -- Yep. I did that too and it worked for a bit and then stopped again. Ya know -- it's worth the 19 Euros to buy it as it does work beautifully and HaneWIN support was VERY responsive.

Leonardus -- despite comments made in some guides and websites, HaneWIN NFS DOES expire after the trial period and stops exporting shares -- at least with newer releases. The NFS services starts and then stops right away. You will see entries in your Windows APPLICATIONS Event Logs. Yuo will see a "Expired" message in the haneWIN app itself, but If you still wish to verify ...

1. Open a command prompt on the PC running HaneWIN NFS
2. Go to the PROGRAM FILES folder where haneWIN NFS is installed
3. from the prompt type "nfsd - debug"

If it has expired, you will see a nice little message.

Mmm, you are right, speccially for a windows7 machine. The xp don't has any problem. Do you think that an registered version resolves the problem?

interesting info ripper2860, mine has said it was expired for a few days at least, I will have to keep an eye on it.. we have been watching shows using it all along too..
I guess the next reboot will tell the tale.. I wont restart the server manually, no need to push my luck!

and yeah, the price isn't bad, I've spent more for less before..

leonardus- mine is running on Win 7 without issue (so far..)
32 bit, is yours 64 bit by any chance?

Mine is 32 bit. What is your exportsfile for example and do you have a few shares on a different partition as I have (j:\Muziek, Fotoos and Films)

Leonardus,

If iNode table is corrupt, try checking the reset iNode Table option on the HaneWIN NFS SERVER config screen. After setting it, re-start the NFS server and re-boot the WDTV.

BTW -- I'm running it on Win7 Professional 32bit.

Also -- doesn't Ultimate support/include Windows Services for Unix which has an NFS server module?? You may need to use TURN ON WINDOWS FEATURES in ADD/REMOVE programs, but it should be there, I believe. If so -- you can use it and not rely on a 3rd party solution. May not be as "user friendly", however.

Here's my exports file ...

Code: Select all
# ==============================================
D:\Movies -name:Movies -readonly 192.168.1.124
E:\Movies -name:Movies2 -readonly 192.168.1.124
F:\Movies -name:Movies3 -readonly 192.168.1.124
G:\Movies -name:Movies4 -readonly 192.168.1.124
H:\Movies -name:Movies5 -readonly 192.168.1.124
I:\Movies -name:Movies6 -readonly 192.168.1.124
J:\Movies -name:Movies7 -readonly 192.168.1.124
E:\TV -name:TV2 -readonly 192.168.1.124
G:\TV -name:TV4 -readonly 192.168.1.124
H:\TV -name:TV5 -readonly 192.168.1.124
I:\TV -name:TV6 -readonly 192.168.1.124
J:\TV -name:TV7 -readonly 192.168.1.124
G:\Music-Concerts -name:Music4 -readonly 192.168.1.124

my exports file for reference as well

L:\NewsGroup\Show -name:Show
L:\FTP\~~-~~\stuff\12345\Drew\ftp\Movies -name:Movies
M:\HD-Movies -name:HD-Movies
M:\MP3_Music -name:Music
L:\Downloaders\JDownloader\Downloads\Video -name:Video

it takes a minute or so for them all to populate after a (WDTV) reboot but they all do work..

edit - I have Win7 Ultimate x86

@ RevDrew,

Do you have also the w7 enterprice (or professional) environment as ripper2860?. Because of the important difference of the exportfile of you both.

ripper2860: >>> includes the readonly and after that an ip <<<

Leonardus --

The exports settings are not OS specific.

"-readonly" is not really required with the last 2 revs of firmware. There was an issue with getting a SPINNING CIRCLE OF DEATH when launching movies if the shares were RW. The newer firmwares auto-mount them as RO so it's not really needed anymore. Doesn't hurt to have it, though.

I also specify the IP of my WDTV because I only wish to only make the shares available for mounting just by the WDTV. I don't think you need it if the shares are exported to PUBLIC. Again -- doesn't hurt if the WDTV is the only device you mounting the exported NFS shares.

Ultimate does have an NFS module and as you say, it works, but it isn't as user-friendly.
