Nice patch works for both your osdmod and juliojs osdmod

You can actually read the text now :D

Actually i think you have hit on something here if it is possible to add that overlay to the screen then there is no reason why you cannot overlay ALL the screen with your original thumbgen moviesheet ??

ie if the overlay is not transparent then you just see the movie sheet ?? of course the design of the moviesheet would have to take into consideration the seven thumbnails at the bottom and possibly part of the top due to the top buttons ??

The moviesheet would have to be a fixed name eg backdrop.jpg / fanart.jpg / wdtv.jpg so you can link the script to it ????

So in practice if the moviesheet file is not present on your hard drive then you see the normal screen (well your patched screen) and if it is present then it overlays on top of the picture...

I am talking rubbish or is that at all possible

LOL yes i am probably just ranting a little

It's just that i was just looking at this line of xml

Code: Select all
<!-- ORG get image from Gallery
<image image="image/video_browse_gallery_overlay.png" x="0" y="0" w="1280" h="720" bg="1"/> -->
<image image="image/Gallery/video_browse_gallery_overlay.png" x="0" y="0" w="1280" h="720" bg="1"/>

and i see that you 'photoshopped' a new

video_browse_gallery_overlay.png

within the image\gallery folder

What i was hoping is that a line could be inserted that makes the Hub look for a jpg and overlay it to the screen in the same way it is calling up the various thumbnails and png's etc etc

Guys I cannot wait to see this finalized.

Could you please post on this thread once themes are complete? I would also gladly contribute/purchase custom themes, if this would encourage developers. It is THAT important to me to have a great user experience.

Thanks.

I just got a WDTV Live Hub, and would love to try your theme! How can I get the files? Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work! :D

PsychoTHC,
Thanks for the theme. It looks great! I love the animations way better than the factory ones. I have had little time this week to actually play with it. I hope to be able to in a couple days. I am going to play with the moviesheets. Can you forward me the updated theme with the overlay changes? THANKS!!!!!

It looks like we should actually be able to make this thing work decent and look nice without hacking it.

Awesome Job!

unfortunately work decent and look good have nothing to do with each other. xml is not magic. ;)

Hi b-rad....

You are soo right working decent and looking good are two different things...

PyschoTHC and juliojs et al will be taking care of the looking good part, BUT i really hope you rethink your view of the HUB and see what you can get out of this box of tricks...(hence the working good part sorted)

As you rightly say so you can only do so much with xml....i have been lucky enough to see just how much PyschoTHC can do with photoshop and xml....

However with you onboard this box will be busted wide open, booby trap and all i dont care as in the non usa boxes don't have netflix or blockbuster anyways.... :o

the problem is I am in the USA and I do have netflix. So I have essentially have to sacrifice a $200 toy and i'm not very happy about that. If that $200 was paid for it'd be a different story.
