unlikely, codecs can't be changed or added. WDLXTV supports only the codecs the standard firmware supports.

There's a great alternative -- FLAC. Get dbpoweramp reference and encode that nasty apple stuff to a codec that's free and lossless

He's probably wrestling with DRM and doesn't think there's a (legal?) way around it.

Actually, I am on a mac. I've used Flac before, but it just doesn't translate to my portable device well.

I was going with ALAC as well when I did have an ipod. However, that got stolen, so I resorted to getting a Cowon D2 and have never really looked back. FLAC is awesome, but it's a little overkill to play it on a portable

A little off-topic, but it really is so much easier when you can 'nix the proprietary stuff. I mean, isn't that sort of the whole reason why we're all here? Hope you find your solution.

no point in having two files though. WDTV is currently hooked up to my hifi system also
