Plugin: CDManager (Update 09.19.2010)

Postby arifg » Tue Aug 31, 2010 4:07 pm

Once UMSP's Optical Drive manager works unreliable to me I've wrote my own plugin for WDTVExt allowing to control an Optical Drive. It works fine with my USB Toshiba Portable SuperMultidrive, hope you'll have the same (I mean a luck not a drive! :))). It automatically mounts optical disk being inserted into a drive and adds sub menu item "Eject Optical drive" under "Video/Local Drives", "Photo/Local Drives" and "Music/Local Drives" menus. After inserting of optical disk it will be automatically mounted and it's contents could be accessed from "Local Drives/Folders" sub menu under "Video", "Music" or "Photo" respecively. Eject disk using "Eject Optical Drive" sub menu item. Install the stuff as usual: unpack archive into WDTVLive's drive .wdtvext/CDManager directory and register it through WDTVExt control panel. Any suggestions and bug reports appreciated.

Enjoy :)

UPD1:
Ver. 0.1.2
Fixed some issues, added "Loading Optical Disk..." message at time of mounting, script 'mount.cd' replaced with 'check.disk.stats'
Delete old files from plugin folder before installing this update.

UPD2:
Ver. 0.1.3
Automatic tray closing after eject fixed

UPD3:
Ver. 0.1.4
- Fixed bug when plugin is unable to mount some drives connected to USB Hub
- Fixed bug when plugin is unable to mount some type of DVD, AVCHD, .mkv etc.

download here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/uyhxlpovks892lt/CDManager_0_1_4.rar

UPD4:
Ver. 0.1.5
***BETA***
- Convenience feature added: after detecting disk in the drive, plugin will automatically open "Local Drives"->"Folders" under currently selected menu item (Video, Photo, Music respectively).

UPD5:
Ver. 0.1.6
- Fixed occasional DMAOSD hangs due to exeption in the onMenuSelect handler.

UPD6:
- Fixed DMAOSD freeze.

******* Would like to hear opinions from different people if this is a valuable feature deserved to be included into release *********

I need to check few things. Could you please do the following:

- Insert disk into drive, reboot the box, telnet to it and execute the command:

Code: Select all
cat /proc/mounts

Copy/paste all content of /proc/mounts here

- Eject the disk by selecting "Eject" menu option, then repeat the preivious step and copy all stuff from /proc/mounts here

- Execute:
Code: Select all
cat /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info

grab output and paste it here;

If there is something like:
"drive name: sr0"
in the first line of the output, load CD into drive and execute:

Code: Select all
blkid /dev/sr0

using the actual drive name. Copy/paste its output for me.

- try to execute and copy|paste its output for me:
Code: Select all
/wdtvext/plugins/user-plugins/CDManager/check.disk.stats /dev/sr0

Thank you.

Your Samsung S084 looks exactly as my Toshiba: http://laptops.toshiba.com/accessory/PA3761U-1DV2
Seems like those are pretty the same. So I suppose it should work well.

My question is about how to unpack the files???

I opened up the webend... and used the file manager... browsed to /wdtvext folder... it wont let me create a folder... OR upload a .rar file to it... using telnet to create the directory tells me that it's a "read-only file system"

Could someone please give me "noob" instructions? lol THANKS!

I'm really eager to try this, btw... because i happen to have the same exact drive as "arifg"

:) thanks in advance!

Does this work on the WD TV LIVE PLUS? I dont see eject option at all... i have the "CDManager" folder created inside the "wdtvext-plugins" folder on my USB thumbdrive.. is this incorrect?

thanks for the reply arifg, I will go through the steps you mentioned and post the results. meanwhile here is my latest finings:

i have been playing with the box and I noticed that I can see my dvd drive from the file manager in the webfront. However it is not shown in the menu on my TV.
i tried rebooting several times with no success.
before installing CDmanager i could see my drive, but the drive was locked and i could not eject the drive without rebooting. Once I installed CDmanager i could unlock the drive with the eject option -but still no actual physical eject action-. Afterwards, when i rebooted the device i could not see the drive anymore however as i mentioned above it is recognized in the php file manager. I tried disabling CDManager but it didn't help.

cheers,

you should enable it from the wdlxtv plugin menu and then reboot the device.
