Device freezes -

Postby deck » Tue Oct 13, 2015 10:16 am

Hello there,

great job on the firmware gor my Gen3!
I am a newbie and I just booted my WDTVLive from the USB stick. Works like a charm.
The readme.txt was great help. Even I could make it work.

There is only one tiny problem. When I left the device for about half an hour it froze in a black screen and I couldn't wake it up again.
I had to pull the power cable and plug it back in again. Then it booted up again without any problem.

Can you give me a hint waht to do to avoid this problem

Kind regards form Germany

just quoting the gen3 wdtv wiki specs .... ;)

Sigma Designs SMP8670AD 700 MHz processor with 512MB of DDR2 memory from Nanya

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD_TV#WD_TV_Live_Streaming_.28WD_TV_Live_3rd_Gen.29

P.S. have any of you guys tried creating a "Swap" file ?

v 0.1.0-Beta
* add swap support : file must be located on same drive as firmware and named ".swapfile" - use webend to enable/disable

i created a 128MB swap file, and it seemed to help (1st thing i noticed ... Youtube did'nt lock up)

ok. But why the process takes 246% of the memory (specifically 572Mb )... it seems unrealistic.
