Thanks for all the great work KAD and for all your help!!!

entware is going to be trial and error, I don't use it regularly and it's been long enough, I don't even remember which packages I tested, but they were pretty basic (ie maybe vim or nano, etc ), nothing like the items you're trying to install
there's always the possiblity that there may be dependencies needing installed first, or that something in WD's kernel is incompatible with some packages

But I cant seem to get xmount to work at all. Maybe Im doing (or looking) wrong... At Gen 2, all I did was change the net.mounts through (WDLXTV Config (webend)) like this:

xmount "//192.168.0.199:/film-dvd-arkiv" ".media1" cifs
xmount "//192.168.0.199:/film-hd-3tb" ".media2" cifs
xmount "//192.168.0.199:/film-hd-6tb" ".media3" cifs
xmount ".media1:.media2:.media3" "Filmer/Arkivet" unionfs
xmount "//192.168.0.199:/film-sorteras" "Filmer/Sorteras" cifs
xmount "//192.168.0.199:/film-nya" "Filmer/Nya" cifs

Then (in Gen 2) I just went to videos -> folders -> and there was my folders/files that was xmounted.
I dont get how to do this in Gen 3. I only get to videos and there I have to choose source, I have tried all but I dont know next step. Advice pls...

I think you missed an important step, even with the old gen2 WD Live xmount always shows up as local media
same with gen3, so when you choose a source, you need to select whatever thumbdrive you are using

I dont know what Im doing wrong.. Just says that it cand find any media, I have tried several usbs... :|

net.mounts was run, but the mouting attempt failed

I would check the output of smbclient, details here
http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Net.mounts

also you should try running those xmount entries from the cmd line to see if there's any additional detail

What about problem with play .mp4 http links on 2.02.32- 0.1.6 ? (Sometimes played, sometimes not).
And message "This is sharing content from Windows" (if try to start link via upnp-cmd)... this is related problem or not?

And one more - is it possible to add (in newest alternative f/w) support more fresh php? Like in f/w for simple Live (5.3). Now in Streaming see 5.2 and some function not work.

mp4 problem is know problem with official 2.02.32, so WD must fix it, but I honestly think we've seen the last firware update from them
WD actually fixed the MP4 bug in Gen4 device, but Gen4 dmaosd does not support netflix, so even if I pull dmaosd (closed source bits) from Gen4, we would loose netflix functionality

"This is sharing content from Windows"
I looked into this quite some time ago.
Here's what I found http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Streaming/This-is-Sharing-Content-from-Windows-Solved-well-not-really/m-p/709672/highlight/true#M29866
in a nutshell - WD displays that message if metadata is not present or is missing some items, specifially this piece
Code: Select all
file-get:*:video/avi

as for improvements, while I'd like to work on it, I doubt that it will happen
back in june I started a new job, I'm now working 9 - 10 hr days
also my WD media players have retired to a storage box, Nvidia Shield TV with Kodi is now taking up the media duties
