check the readme or the wiki

NTFS drives can not be used to boot custom firmware

Fat32 is the recommended format
if Fat32 is not working, then tell us what steps you've followed

No I dont want to boot from a NTFS drive. I want to watch movies from the thumbdrive.

I already installed the firmware, but I cant use some thumbdrives and I dont know why.
I have a thumbdrive 32GB NTFS formated and it works fine. But with the two others 64GB there is a problem.

if that's the only problem, I don't know why either

it's also been reported on official firmware that some thumbdrives don't work

I've installed this firmware and it seems working for a while, sometimes a couple of hours. I can open its web front end and set up Transmission there. But it gets 'frozen' eventually. I can neither access web front-end nor browser its USB folders via File Explorer.

Sometimes I still can see its home page on TV, but nothing really works - can't watch youtube or netflix.

Have I missed anything?

I have tried three USB devices. One of them is Kingston brand.

One thing I've noticed is that the setting changes in Transmission, like U/L speeds can't be saved.

edit: Have tried both wireless and wired connection.

there's a well documented memory leak in official 2.02.32 , it's present in this firmware as well

if you're doing a lot of torrent downloading, etc ....
then it's to be expected, and no we can't fix the memory leak, it's in the closed source part of the firmware, so WD has to fix it

Oh oh that's disappointing.

I tried to reduce the number of peer and U/D speeds. But it seems the changes can't be saved via web UI. Is there a config file doing that?

I'll have to look into it
as far as I know, it should be saveable

i have finally decided to actually look at what my wdtv player can do.
i bought this player 2 or 3 years ago and never played with any of the addons. it was strictly for my media on my hard drive.
i realized that i could use this player as a nzb downloader.
the official firmware works almost perfectly....except for the 2gb limit error.
i wanted to try out WDLXTV but the nzbget is even older than the official firmware which probably still has the 2gb limit error.

im a total noob at linux. i was able to get entware (optoware alternative) and i was able to install nzbget v15....but i have no idea how to autostart it. closest thing to a tutorial for that is the "upgrade to nzbget v11" and i tried it but failed.

TL;DR: any way to get nzbget updated in the next firmware update?
i would love to use this custom firmware because i do love the ftp and umsp services...but i would rather have nzbget updated.

regarding nzbget, it's only included in this firmware because WD added to 2.02.32, it's the same version
as for the 2TB cap (for nzbget application only) you'll need to complile a newer version of nzbget

I can't speak to version in the entware repository, it indeed might be different, but should have been no reason to download/install it via entware
since the firmware already has nzbget
