Just found this forum today. I've been looking for possible ways to make my WDTV box better. I was hoping things like this existed. I determined for sure that I have the gen3 box. I'm in the process of downloading this firmware now and I will report back with what I find.

First off, there is a problem with the way that the script is set up. It is set to upload a file to the box that doesn't exist. I downloaded the previous version of the firmware and the file did exist there. I'm going to attempt to make it work with what is available and see what happens.

I've got it running on my wdtv box. Seems to be working fine. I was able to get into the web backend as well. Telnet, SSH, and FTP all work. Haven't been able to test much more than that just yet.

I suggest BitComet (http://www.bitcomet.com/index.php) , because the firmware download is very slow.

that's interesting, I did not know that, and I don't have any real idea why chrome would warn against

if anybody wants to audit, what's happening here, everything is available via svn
there's nothing to hide

chrome is probably just using another over active anti-virus filter

I'm guessing it's flagged as dangerous because it contains bin files which it can't understand so it wants to be extra careful...

Hi, I'm a new user and really need help

I have WD LIVE WDBHG70000NBK device running V 2.02.32

I have downloaded both [2.02.32-WDLXTV_Gen3-0.1.6.zip]

and [1.05.04_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.2.0.zip].

I cannot understand how to get them to work. I've read through the wiki and where I am is:

1) I know that my version is supported
2) I know I have to have to have a .bin and .fff, and .ver along with the correct WDLXTV
firmware to flash manually to the device
3) The larger file's filename [2.02.32-WDLXTV_Gen3-0.1.6.zip] looks more correct than the other
file for my WD LIVE, but doesn't have .ver or .fff and won't flash
4) The other file [1.05.04_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.2.0.zip] looks less correct but has all the things that
are required to flash, but I've formatted 3 different drives in FAT32 and tried to flash but couldn't.

I am in the woods, my internet is prepaid $25.00 for 2GB and I've already burned more than 2GBs
downloading the wrong files and having the WD LIVE device update itself, call home to report my files,
and God knows what else. Please help.
