first try this, might solve some of the issues

there's also a possibility that there are issues on your network causing all your problems
any firmware, will not fix your network if that's the case

I've downloaded a couple of plugins to stream movies and shows (couchtuner, simply movies, etc), and seem to have issues with playing them. They downloaded fine, and I see them in the umsp media server. However, when I try to open them, I am told there is no media detected. In some cases I am simply redirected to the front page. I browsed around the forum for some time, since I feel I am missing something blatantly obvious. After no success, I am hoping one of you guys could help.

Thanks, I'll try that. I doubt my problems are network related though because I have the same issue if I connect an external HDD to the players USB.

To be 100% certain it's not network related, unplug the unit from the network while testing... we've seen cases when there were DLNA broadcasters that interfered...

You probably need to restart to factory defaults. Make a backup of your config just in case.

I guess I don't get what you're trying to do

flashing firmware does not change any settings, and is not needed for returning to stock
all you do is
stockify
reboot
delete files if you want

additionally if you've been messing around in /conf
then remove whatever you put there
note: storing items in /conf is never recommended (it's small and writable, it you overfill it, the WD will wipe the whole directory)

if your actual goal is just to have a clean install of wdlxtv, why not skip all of this
and just use the reset EVERYTHING option in webend
