I don't have time to look into it, but I think something happened with the lib paths in the last release
example python libs are present, but I know the system for some reason is unable to find them
probably the same thing happening with libpar2.so.0, I bet it's there, but the system can't find it

'missing libpar2.so.0'
libpar2.so.0 exists, but is a symlink to libpar2.so.0.0.1 which does not exist.

fix:
copy missing libpar2 files from 0.1.4 to /lib
Code: Select all
tar -xvf libs.tar /lib

add /lib to $PATH
Code: Select all
PATH=$PATH:/lib

link to extracted libs from 0.1.4: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-IB4ma-X21LSURQZk9vN0s5RFk/view?usp=sharing

'missing libpython2.7.x'
files exist, however are not in checked path (located in /opt/lib)

fix:
copy lib files to /lib
Code: Select all
cp /opt/lib/libpython* /lib

Add /lib to $PATH (skip if done above)
Code: Select all
PATH=$PATH:/lib

I can make a single patch script for people, if you all want..

Hello, I have a wdtv gen2 (WDBABG0000NBK-00), I use it to play 720p / 1080p content from two verbatim 3.0 usb 4tb external hdd's that are plugged to it. It plays everything just fine but, it's becoming slow opening mpeg4 videos (avi / divx and mkv open fast) and navigating folders, especially if I have thumbnail mode selected on browser display. The miniatures (movie covers) I use have 500x665 resolution, so I guess it's a hardware limitation, having the two 4tb external hdd's plugged in is probably too demanding for the gen2.

I'm probably going to buy a gen3 (WDBGXT0000NBK), because the processor is faster (500 MHz vs 700 Mhz?), streaming services are not very important at the moment, as long as it can download movie covers and information, it's mainly for playing files from local storage, but I've read that they are a bit buggy and have issues with 3.0 usb external hdd's that are 4tb or larger (at least on the back usb port), and crashes all the time, is this true? If so, does this cfw (is this the latest version?) or any official firmware addresses any of this issues? Thank you very much in advance ;)

Hi all, has anyone got Crontabs to run on this build and is it at all possible??

After settings CROND=ON and trying to run crontab -e I get the following error

crontab: can't change directory to '/var/spool/cron/crontabs': No such file or directory

Is there anyway of getting this to work?

Thanks in advance...

I purchased a gen3 and, although is has a better interface and streaming services, it's slow has hell, I complained about the gen2 being slow with the two 4tb hdd's connected, the gen3 can only handle one at a time, it takes forever to start up and even more to get media info about any hdd content and most times the information / covers are wrong, after 5 hours it only got content information for 300 movies out of more than 3000 from only one 4tb hdd, both hdd's are verbatim 3.0 usb, I'm really disappointed.

If you only want to play local media from external storage, this definitely ain't the right tv media player for you, I don't what I'll get next, but I'm sticking with the gen 2 until I find something better / faster.

Hi,
i have a strange behavior with nfs mounts and symbolic links. I tried to find and read all posts concerning nfs mounts and i am playing with this for the last two days.
My NAS has two big drives containing all media files. I have directories on the NAS containing links to some specific media files, e.g. films made in 1960's or films with an actor... Then i share these directories to my WDLXTV Gen3. Some of the files i can play some not.

I have built now a clear situation and i can ask my question - maybe someone had the same problem...

# cat /conf/net.mounts
mount -t nfs -o tcp,ro,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 192.168.1.200:/8TB1 /8TB1
mount -t nfs -o tcp,ro,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 192.168.1.200:/8TB2a /8TB2a
xmount "192.168.1.200:/Media" "Media" nfs "proto=tcp,rsize=8192,wsize=8192"
#

(so no big blocks and we go over tcp)

Mount are OK (?):

# mount -t nfs
192.168.1.200:/8TB1 on /8TB1 type nfs (ro,relatime,vers=3,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.1.200,mountvers=3,mountproto=tcp,addr=192.168.1.200)
192.168.1.200:/8TB2a on /8TB2a type nfs (ro,relatime,vers=3,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.1.200,mountvers=3,mountproto=tcp,addr=192.168.1.200)
192.168.1.200:/Media on /tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4/Media type nfs (ro,relatime,vers=3,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.1.200,mountvers=3,mountproto=tcp,addr=192.168.1.200)
#

# df |grep 200
192.168.1.200:/8TB1 7.2T 7.2T 7.1G 100% /8TB1
192.168.1.200:/8TB2a 5.4T 2.9T 2.5T 53% /8TB2a
192.168.1.200:/Media 9.8G 4.3G 5.0G 46% /tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4/Media
#

# pwd
/tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4/Media
# ls -l
total 4
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 Jan 17 21:24 AA -> /8TB1
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 17 22:27 BB
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Jan 17 21:23 film.avi -> /8TB1/film.avi
#

So two "ways" to the same "film.avi" fle, one direct symlink and one symlink to the directory conatining "film.avi"

# ls -l /8TB1
total 179456
drwxr-xr-x 36 root root 4096 Dec 4 06:37 Filmek
-rwxr--r-- 1 root root 183742464 Jan 17 21:22 film.avi
drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Dec 2 08:52 lost+found
#

Now i cannot play ".../Media/ilm.avi" ( a link to /8TB1/film.avi) - "There is no media available for playback.."
but i can play ".../Media/AA/film.avi" .

So it seems to me, that i can follow symlinks to directories and than play files in that directory, but i cannot play files, if the file itself is a symlink to the media file.

Funny thing is, that in a shell i can copy the file (wich is a sysmlink) to my usb:

# pwd
/tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4/Media
# cp film.avi /tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4
# ls -l film.avi
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Jan 17 21:23 film.avi -> /8TB1/film.avi
#
# ls -l /tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4/film.avi
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 183742464 Jan 17 23:12 /tmp/media/usb/USB210/7A40-34C4/film.avi
#

Thanks in advance for any ideas that might help,

I have no windows machine in order to run bat files (only mac). So I cannot install the mod firmware on my gen3. Right?
