Hi notes4shawn, no probs go ahead and pick my brain re the setup i have put up a new thread about the player so we can discuss just the great Themes on this topic..

Btw Playon is definately the easiest to use much more selections, but the new orb also includes Hulu channels....

I have been able to use Playon with a vpn on the pc to stream hulu, but no such luck with orb (i did get it to work on the same pc using their web browser interface)

If you are based in the states then you can use either...Orb is free but i think playon is worth its weight in gold.

You can get the new orb server from here

http://new.orb.com/en/download.html

Playon 14 day trial from here

As I expected I seem to be having issues setting this up. I hate Windows!!! I am running Windows XP in a Virtual box on Linux. I can access all my networked computers, NAS and the HUB from Network Places in the VB Window XP but I cannot access the VB Windows XP from any networked computers. I can see it in the list but when I click on it it says that the VB Window XP computer requires a password. Even when there was no password setup for XP and the firewall is OFF. It makes NO sense. GRRRR

Anyway, until I can get that figured out then I doubt I will be able to see the Playon Server on my network. Is that correct? It says the server is on and running. Where do I go in the HUB to find the server?

Thanks!

I bought the WD TV Live Hub and after one week, I took it back to Best Buy. My major problem was when displaying the moviesheets (with full detail) the backdrop image made the movie synopsis very hard to read. You can clearly see this in PsychoTHC video (earlier on this thread) at around the 00:43 second mark.

I am not sure how easy it would be to correct this, but if you major experts can overcome this, I would reconsider buying it again.

many many thanks!

yes, you are right. Its hard to read the small white text over moviesheet pictures. I plan to put a half transaprent black box in between to inc the contrast of text.

Hi PsychoTHC. Please can you do this asap as this a major drawback the half transaprent black box will make all the difference between been able to read the info and not.

Thumbgen we need you onboard the Hub LOL...just joking but seriously it will be great when more people come onboard.

Btw like i mentioned in my other thread the only way currently that you can view your existing moviesheets is to use 'Files' on the main menu to browse

Then depending on the naming stucture of your folders all you should see are 2 files....your movie file and the moviesheet (or moviesheets if you prefer) as folder.jpg and moviename.jpg will be hidden by library mode. Press 'Play' on the top folder to automatically play your moviesheets or Enter the folder and manually choose it before playing the movie..

PsychoTHC / juliojs perhaps you guys can look at this page with a view to theming and changing the view ??? as you cannot use any other mode apart from the basic file mode...

Gallery View is soo close yet soo far from Sheet mode even down to the 7 thumbnails at the bottom (hint to navigate faster in this view use the |<< and >>| buttons on the remote) and it will skip 7 thumbnails at a time...

...

DONE :!: :D
Image
- 50% transparent black box with relief border
- movie title size inc from 40 to 48 px
- also made other text bigger from 18 to 24 px
- moved all text more up so there are now 6 lines for the movie description below instead of 3

I'll send you the updated files through PM this evening
