Very pissed off !!! (broken remote control)

Postby ozzyman » Mon Apr 02, 2012 2:40 pm

Hi all.

My WDTV Live Plus remote control is fuckin' broken.
I've update my fuckin' WDTV to lastest ORIGINAL WD FIRMWARE.

So now, I simple CAN'T USE MY FUCKING WDTV !!!

There is a way to update the WDTV with lastest original firmware to the lastest WDLXTV firmare WITHOUT THE FUCKING REMOTE CONTROL ???

If the answer is yes, I'll try to use the EIRI to use another remote, (but I simply can't understand how the fucking EIRI works, but... it is another problem)
Someone can HELP MEEEEEEEEE ????

if you're on official firmware there's nothing we can do for you

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=western+digital+remote

or get a universal remote and program it for the WD

The WDTV works with an USB Keyboard ??

If yes, I can operate the menu.

But, it's possible to change the last original firmware to the last WDLXTV firmware ?

If yes too, i will ask for some help to use EIRI :P

As long as you can press enter on the upgrade screen, then yes, you can switch to 1.05_*, then you can enable EIRI and program it to respond to IR codes from a different remote that you have around.

Read the wiki article. It explains how to discover those codes if you have the remote.

Just curious. How do you determine if the remote is broken?

Change the batteries, turn on the camera of your cellphone and press any button on remote.
If it's working, you will see the emissor LED blinking from your cellphone camera.
