Tip of the day: You need to set a password otherwise SSH and FTP will not work.

This is the first time I flashed my WDTV plus. I used to have the official firmware 1.0.6.16 with a portable hard drive and a USB wireless N and everything was working. I flashed WDLXTV firmware 1.05.04_B to enable linksheets. I flashed the firmware and everything seems to work such as wireless. netflix, etc...

I ran into a couple of issues and was wondering if I am doing anything wrong:
1. Since I don't use this box everyday, I turned the 5V off the USB at power off. After i did that I noticed that when i power on the player, I can't access my local drive and the USB led is off. The only way I can see the drive is to disconnect the power and reconnect (reboot the WDTV). If I keep the 5V on the USB then the problem goes away. My question is does powering off the box really powers it off or not? Is there a way to turn it completely off (I can wait for it to power up)? Is there a way to force it to see the local drive? I have tried this with more than one portable and it behaves the same
2. A couple of times, I could not turn the WDTV off using the remote after it has been on for a while without any activity. I checked the configuration and I did not have the deep deep sleep option turned on.

Thank you for all the help.

Eject the drive before powering off.

Is there a way to automatically eject the drive during a power down. I mean using the power event configuration option. I have kids using the player and they would forget to eject before shutting down.

Thank you

try this power off command

Code: Select all
umount /dev/sda1; eject /dev/sda

edit;
I just tried it via telnet. No problems unmounting, but the eject command appears to do nothing (borked command?)
Perhaps there is a command for ensuring USB on the power_up, but I dunno...

Hi... my firmware is 5.1.1. I installed a wireless router and using wired connection, tried to configure the network. My pc is running windows xp. The internet is accessible. It shows the tversity media server also, but the shared folders are not shown. My computer name is shown, but when i click on that, "there is no media in current folder" error appears. I have different folders in the pc which are shared. If any solution is available, help me.
