Use a propper Editor.
If you're trying to install on Plus you are missing a file: the .bi2 file needs to be copied to the usb drive along with the .ver, .bin and .fff!

Tip of the day: Make sure windows does not hide any file extensions or you might end up having a file named wdtvlive2.ver.txt,
but you will see wdtvlive2.ver in windows explorer.

Thanks for the quick reply. What would you consider a proper editor? I'll check the extensions and add the .bin file and see what happens.

Tip of the day: Use Notepad++, PSPad, ...any Editor that knows about *nix linebreaks and doesn't change file names (or extensions) on it's own ;)
So hardly any editor BUT NOT MS Notpad....

Thanks so much for the info. Added the .bi2 file and made the version changes with notepad ++. Unit is loading firmware now. :) Problem solved.

Sorry if this is a thread hijack but it seemed like a potential entry point. Once I updated to 5.1.1 I started to encounter sputtering problems with high bitrate rips that played without trouble in the previous version. I thought something had gone south with my two nfs mounts so I spent a few nights changing some of the parameters (rsize/wsize) etc but the end result was the same. I disabled some of the services that didn't seem to be in use (ssh daemon, ftp and some others) through the webend with no effect. Once I reverted to 4.7.3 the chronic freezes disappeared.

Was there some sort of change in the 5.1.1 version that I should account for in my configuration? I'd like to be able to follow the releases. If there's no obvious answer then I'm willing to upgrade again and provide debug/log information if it will help.

thanks

there's no obvious reason for studdering

probably the best thing to do, is run a speedtest and see what throughput you're getting
then run the speedtest on this 5.1.1

I'd bet they are roughly the same, and you'd have to debug from there
and of coarse the most common nfs tip: use proto=tcp

I doesnt allow me to leave it blank and I have tried everthing so far. Should I try to reset another one and if so how? I can access the webfront end . thanks

Did you change your root password any time before the update...??
If yes, it's still the changed password, neither passwords nor config settings will be changed/reset on firmware update!
