Ok 100% confirmed for me too ... flash WD fw then play some NetFlix content then flash up to 1.05.04 and NetFlix works! Also got CIFS interceptor working which is very handy. Now to see if I can get the link sheets working again. With a USB drive plugged in or having fakeusb working, the scan on boot worked perfectly. Currently I'm trying to do a manual scan against the network share but it's having issues with directories that have spaces (or that's what it looks like). So for now I can either have my sheets work and have a thumb drive plugged in, or have the files accessible but no movie sheets.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get movie sheets working with the cifsinterceptor (very cool) method of mounting shares?

I had a problem with directories and spaces as well, but this was because I was using a bad Optware bin. Are you using optware at all?

I am not lol...basically I'm just running linksheets against the share location. When the drive shows up as USB it worked perfectly with the initial scan even with directories that had spaces. I'm not sure if there's something else I should be running though.

Hi

Fairly new to this game, but I see so much of activity around this so thought of trying.

Basicall I have a WD Live Plus and its still not hacked. I formatted my flash drive to FAT32 and loaded the 3 files .ver .bin and .fff to my flash. Turned off the power og the wd plus and put the USB in and inserted power back... poof... nothing really happened. It rebooted back and it is still running the old stock (latest WD Plus update) version. I have tried this on 3 different flash sticks with the same result.

What am I doing wrong?

Help please!

Thanks,
Sandy

I had a problem much like what you describe and what I did was switch to the other USB port and my plus updated fine.

Give it a try; it can't hurt.

Whoa! I thought this was coming. I finally screwed it big time now.

I went back after typing the last entry in this thread and read the installation instructions to the end on the wiki page.

I read that most commonly changing the .ver file to a level higher than that of the current latest version (VERSION='1.06.16_B') helps.

So I changed the .ver in the downloaded file to VERSION='1.06.17_B' and saved that and flashed to my USB stick. Retried the WDTV restart with the USB plugged in and this time I had the New firmware found message and it installed successfully as well (100%) but then after that it went for a reboot and never came up. I waited for quite long and manually hard rebooted it again and this time I could see the welcome screen and later the device loses its connection to the screen. I've tried this 3-4 times now with the same result.

Is this what we call bricked??

Please say No.

thanks and waiting for the replies. :(

So, with 1.05.04, does it work WITH Live and NOT Live Plus with 3TB externals?

Ok this is the last post like this I'll put in this thread (pretty sure it should go elsewhere) ... as a follow up I managed to get linksheets _mostly_ working with 1.05.04 and cifsinterceptor. I had to also make sure I had the entry for the NFS mount in a net.mounts file (and with a different name than the final share). The odd thing is it doesn't quite work the same as if seen as a local drive. If I kill samba on my media machine, plug a usb device in and just have xmounts mount the nfs share to "Videos" all of my linksheets work perfectly from folder thumbs to sheets to thumbs in each directory (my folder hierarchy is /mt/Videos/Movie Name Folder/file names (mkv, jpg, nfo etc)) . Some of these are nested as well so under Videos I also have a folder called Christmas which has it's own folder sheet and then movie directories under that with more folder and thumb sheets.

Either way the "local drives" (which are NFS mounts) work perfect but the "network shares" don't quite work with the same sheets .... I'll some more digging and post in a linksheets thread. I'm not sure if it's 1.05.04 related or not.

@ifyoucare,

no it's not bricked, if you still can't get any image, try holding in the little reset button on the side for a few seconds, then pulling the powercord
when you power it up again, at worst case, it will just ask you for a valid firmware to flash

Try accessing the web interface, go to the Configuration section, and do a complete factory default reset. You probably have some video-related settings from an older version that don't work properly with this new version.
