Ok, don't let my "developer" badge fool you - what I'm about to say may be very dangerous and may permanently brick your WD.
What I need somebody to do is the following:
Get the .bin and .ver files from 1.05-0.5.1.1 release, and get the fff file from WD's GPL archive (posted a few threads back) Bungalow_launcher_firmware_3/wdtvlive2.fff and place all 3 files in the root of a USB drive.
Do a regular flashing by following the steps in the wiki (Quickstart).
After you're done flashing (assuming it worked and it rebooted to a working WDTV), I need you to login via telnet and issue these commands (and paste back here the output):
- Code: Select all
uname -a
zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION
With this output we can re-start e-mailing WD to complain. Maybe they will get the picture.
Now, please note that flashing that kernel should be safe, after all, b-rad booted with it and tried a few things. But from what I've read it could disable your Netflix playback, so after you get that data, you should probably re-flash with the fff file that comes with wdlxtv firmware.
Good luck in your adventure! And PS. If you haven't flashed wdlxtv yet or have not played with telnet, you should experiment first with a known firmware before testing what I said...
