That is what I have been doing... but I have been having to use the "Advanced Surround" to simulate 5.1.. really frustrating me. Some of my movies only have MP3 sound (from the tags on the moviesheets) but the ones listed as Dolby or DTS only play 2ch as well. I guess I will have to pull some of them off the HDD and plug them into one of those Audio programs to give me the details to make sure it has the sound in there.

Back to the drawing board!

And thanks RMerlin ;)

You can also try to connect the optical audio out of the WD to your reveiver, I've never had issues with the TOS-Link output.

The problem with that is I would have to figure out how to get the Video to play out of the HDMI and the Audio out of the Optical for the WDTV input (HDMI2) of the receiver. My 1020 is fairly new for me so I would need to figure out if and how it is possible ;)

Will give it a look! Thanks again!

Hi a good place to start is the wiki: http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Quickstart

That guide should give you all the info to upgrade your WDTV with B-Rad's awesome custom firmware.

It is pretty easy... and if flashing the FW is too difficult for you.. There really is no point as you will never understand the LinkSheets.. NZB, Torrent.. etc...

Place the Fireware files on a FAT32 formated thumbdrive. Unplug the WDTV from your network and unplug the power cord. Plug the Thumb drive into the SIDE usb port.. (#1).. Plug in the power to the WDTV and let it load.

When the GUI comes up.. it should say "New Firmware Found"... Follow the instructions to install it. it will reboot again. You can then plug in your network and should be flashed.

If Your system hangs on 0% updated (like mine did).. after 10 mins or so... Unplug the USB Drive.. (NOT THE POWER) and plug it back in. Should start the update progress bar.

If that is too difficult.. I wouldn't bother flashing it with homebrew Firmware.

Actually, the first thing i'd suggest doing is going to Settings -> System -> About and seeing exactly what firmware/device you really have. It blows my mind how many people think they have a plus/g2/live when they have a different model altogether.

To all the developers and supporters on this board, thank you so much for the knowledge and help!

I own a new WDTV Live Plus, downloaded the latest FW as instructed in the Read Me file. I was successful in flashing the machine. My question is, any ideas why the USB port 1 (side) or 2 (back) remain ON while the machine is OFF? It's just cumbersome to manually unplug my WD Passport after watching a movie.

Once again, thank you!
