Multiple Displays, modes?

Postby AbeFM » Sun Oct 31, 2010 11:12 am

I've got a projector which I use primarily for movies - hooked up with component, and a cheapy monitor I use for managing Pandora and would like to use as a photo-frame slideshow display (I have in the past).

The issue is the monitor is 4:3 and the projector is widescreen. Furthermore, the monitor is RGB and often when I use the projector, the monitor will then come up all pink and discolored.

Is there any way to have the thing change modes based on if it sees the monitor live? I understand there is no communication back from component, but I could have it default when the HDMI port is not hooked to anything powered.

Again, I imagine it's a stretch, but, if it's possible, it would allow me to more easily hang my photoframe in my entryway whilst retaining the no-brainer movie playing for the household womenfolk. :-)

Just found this old thread about "pink" display. Well I have somewhat the same problem. A TFT and a beamer together with HDMI splitter on the HDMI output of WDLXTV. Sometimes either the monitor or the beamer comes up with picture all discolored (mostly pink, sometimes green ;-) When I manually change the video settings from 1080p to 720p or vice versa the detection seems to work and both displays are fine. Is there a way to 1) figure out the exact setting when both displays are fine, including color mode 2) nail down this setting somewhere in the configs so there is no longer outodetection happening. Alternatively I have to buy a new TFT monitor :-(

Thanks!

you can compare the values in /conf/config

but I'm not sure it's possible to stop the WD from changing it
