Update - I've rewritten the parts that relied on the API to do site scraping. The results are satisfactory - the plugin should work like it used to work.

The stations are ordered by number of listeners. For genre selection, I get just the first 200 stations (the shoutcast web page lets you get 'next 10 stations', but I managed to work around that so we don't need to use pagination). For search results, I get the first 100 results.

Let me know if there are problems. You will need to update/reboot.

The scraper looks great.

I have no idea what Shoutcast is up to, but I don't like it. They are logging key usage for their partners and I am guessing the partners get some kind of kick back from the station's advertising revenue.

For US/Canada, I use http://www.thestreamcenter.com/ using VLC on my PC. That is how I learned you could display the current artist/song title on the fly. I am still working on displaying the song on the WD. Not because I need the feature, but because I would like figure the puzzle out. I have found only one small Easter egg in the debug process so far. echo "mask=63" > /tmp/dbg It dumps UPNP info to dmaosd.log

hi, is there a search function included in this plugin?

i installed the firmaware and the plugin yesterday but i only get a specific number of stations within some predefined categories

how can i add a station? or how can i do a search in the shoutcast directory?

You can't add stations to the plugin - all the stations must be available from shoutcast.

You can search, by entering the plugin and then by pressing the "Search" button on your remote.
Also, you can activate the "Last played" list and you will get a menu entry with the last played stations for quick access. You can activate this from the web end.

i typed 'on' as well at the shoutcast config regarding the last played, is that the correct way?

Yes, also make sure the station count is > 0.

Search works in most UMSP plugins that implement it. Some plugins offer an entry as a link to remind users they can search, but most do not. When in doubt, try it out.

Made a change in preparation for the new UMSP_LAN feature that will be part of the future firmware (it will allow you to use UMSP plugins on other devices in your LAN, streaming the content from the WDTV). Changes include some extra escaping of special characters.
Let me know if I've broken anything...
