How to mantain & test translation updated easily

Should be a start point for b-rad.cc to revised the firmware.
When teh language are rady b-rad.cc could release new b-rad fw based on WD 1.03.49.

I do not understand. Could you explain?

Through a SVN system I will provide all languages (updates) to brad.

When all languages (internal) are in place he will run the compilation and create new version of mod fw.

Hi,
translations for some strings are not working, especially in the plugins menu.
Some strings are still displayed in English, even when translated.

The following strings have been added to the .po file, but still remain in English:

Text shown at the information bar of the "Media Navigation v2" plugin. This text can be translated?

Some fixed strings are displayed in association with another variable string (eg a plugin name). It would be interesting only translate the fixed part. But I do not know if this works. Will it work?

For example, in the string: "Enabling Plugin: Volume Control". We should only translate the part "Enabling Plugin:", because the other part of the string ("Volume Control") is a plugin name, and therefore a variable text.

The following strings are example of mixed strings (a fixed part associated with a variable par) and also need to be added to the template file.
As I do not know exactly how to translate mixed strings, I mentioned them separately:

Where xxx = plugin name

There are two spelling errors here: missing a space (between media and navigation) and the string should start with a capital letter.
Suggested correction: "Extended media navigation control playback. Please consider donation."

Where sss = snippet name

Note: I did not correct any string in this post. Even those that contain misspellings were transcribed exactly as shown on WDTV.
My intention in quoting the spelling errors, is to report the errors to the authors, so they can correct them in their plugins.
Once corrected, we can translate them.

All strings displayed in the popup menu (shown at the top of the screen) are not working ... Example: Rebooting WDLXTV...

I also have an important suggestion. Plugin authors should generate a template file (.pot) informing all texts used in their plugins. So would a lot easier to translate.

Currently I have to be accessing each submenu on each menu to search every written text. This takes time and effort, and sometimes I can miss some string.

If the plugins authors want to make the plugins popular, it would be better if they would facilitate the translation.

I updated the .po file of each translation with the new skeleton scheme and with latest string found by marloslab.

Make a subscription of this thread to make a warning when there are some changes.

The latest version of .po file and template can be download from zip file through the the link available in first post.

When you will update your po please send it to my email or if teher are some problem about my email attach it here in the thread.

Most of the strings you request to be 'translatable' are strings introduced by plugins. I don't think it's feasible to be able to translate them all...
It would require all plugin developers to have a special syntax for all the strings which will be displayed on OSD.
Even if we can get the devs to maintain this syntax, we have to keep the translation files updated with every new or modified plugin.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's not possible but I think it's very, very hard to maintain.

The most strings displayed on the navigation menu are "translatable", without special syntax. If all plugin developers make a template file for translators, with only strings shown on the navigation menu, It will be a first step. It´s more easily than visualy search strings on the TV and type them on my template file...

Sorry, sometimes we ask for things that we do not know if are possible.

I see your point and I think this should be possible at least for plugins included in wdlxtv. (I think I will put a list of the used strings as comment at the of the plugin files.)
I put this on my ToDoList (although it's not very high priority) and tackle this if i have some spare time.
