I tried to make my custom UMSP channels permanently available. What I did was copying the channels to usr/share/umsp/plugins.
Then i packed the plugin folder in that way:

"tar -zcvf /conf/umsp-plugins.tgz /tmp/umsp-plugins"

After a reboot the umsp-plugins.tgz file still exists but will no be expanded. At usr/share/umsp/plugins (and also /tmp/umsp-plugins) I can only find the original channels that are shipped with the firmware.

Where is my fault?

Moondiver

P.S. I am using the latest firmware as ext3

Thanks for the quick reply. This was really helpful. In the end I found a better solution (I am using the EXT3 Version).

I copied all new plugins to

/usr/share/umsp/available-plugins/

That's it.

Is there any way to edit the default root channel list? (I mean not only adding custom ones, but removing the existing ones, or change the order of the channels?)

To edit existing entries either get the Ext3 firmware or use the /conf/umsp.php file.
You could remove all preset items and set your own like this:
Code: Select all
unset $myMediaItems;

$myMediaItems[] =  array(
  <Your Item>
);
<repeat>

Thanks zoster, already using Ext3, so I was wondering about where does the existing entries reside (hardcoded in UMSP itself?). Anyway, /conf/umsp.php should be OK for me with the example you have sent.

The hardcoded entries reside in /usr/share/umsp/media-items.php

Hi thanx for the list of arguments (better late than never )
I finally got the time to check it out, and it even seems to work for me
Only thing that i want to know, is.... is it possible to make a channel of an rtsp stream
(formatted RTSP://hostname<:port>/streamname.sdp)

I have tried with links from this site " http://www.dr.dk/hjaelp/DR_Nu/DR+Nu.htm " but without luck
(as far as i know the stream is only viewable in Denmark or by danish proxy)

If its not possible "out of the box" can i make it possible by installing some codec for h264 streaming that can handle rtsp ?
I am using wdlxtv but would switch to ext3 if that would (help me) do the trick

I'm using the EXT-version as well, but for some reason I don't have that folder and I also cannot create a new folder with the name "available-plugins". anybody got an idea why?

Are you using v4.2.1? The path has changed.
