Quick Q

is the /conf/usmp.php file look up being done against the USB drive like for the S00custom-options OR do I need to use ext3 firmware to be able to edit the file directly on firmware?

Hi Guys,

So the umsp.php works great for the existing plugins, or a single .mp4 but what about an rss feed?

Thanks in advance!!

I posted this on Brad's site but this is probably the correct place...

I am new to the linux world, I am trying to add to/ customise umsp, media-items.php and plugins but I can’t write my changes, whether I access the files from ftp or putty get error Read-only file system, I am accessing the files with root user on /etc/umsp/

Any assistance would be appreciated

I would like to add this playlist into my brick.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hello ! I want to get some new german rss feeds. Is it possible in the new b-rad firmware to get new php files in the plugins directory? I´m not using the ext-Firmware version! Can somebody give an example if I can do it into the umsp.php without a php file in the plugins directory

@pdysko
The /conf folder is a persistent writable folder in the standard firmware. It's very small though (120KB).

@ehpraimm
RSS feeds are better suited for the WDTVExt plugin (still under development). Expect some RSS functionality when it's feature complete.
For development use the Ext3 firmware. This gives you full r/w access.

@vibosoft
They provide an API so you could integrate it. Am I gonna write a plugin for it? Probably not.

@nessesosid
Currently plugins can't be read from /conf. You have to use the Ext3 fw for now.

what e.g. about 'http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/nos/journaal/laatstejournaalBB.wmv' ?

I tried this but that didn't work:
#------------------------------
$myMediaItems[] = array(
'id' => strval(count($myMediaItems)+1), #Attribute of item
'parentID' => '0',
#Attribute of item
'restricted' => '0',#Attribute of item
'dc:creator' => 'myCreator',
'dc:title' => 'Laatste Journaal',
'dc:date' => '2009-12-30',
'upnp:author' => 'myAuthor',
'upnp:artist' => 'myArtist',
'upnp:album' => 'myAlbum',
'upnp:genre' => 'myGenre',
'upnp:length' => '2:10:20',
'desc' => 'myDesc',
'upnp:class' => 'object.item.videoItem',
'upnp:album_art'=> '',
'res' => 'http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/nos/journaal/laatstejournaalBB.wmv',
'duration' => 'myDur3', #Attribute of res
'size' => 'mySize3', #Attribute of res in bytes
'bitrate' => 'myBitr', #Attribute of res
'protocolInfo' => 'http-get:*:*:*', #Attribute of res
'resolution' => 'myReso', #Attribute of res
'colorDepth' => 'myColor', #Attribute of res
);

also 'protocolInfo' => 'http-get:*:video/wmv:*', didn't work. Problem with wmv streaming???

How about starting your own thread?

the problem with that is this thread was simply intended to show you how to make a custom channel.

If it becomes the umsp plugin display thread then unless you actually read every single post you have no idea where/what any plugins are.

This is a UMSP subforum, therefore theres space to spread out and give topics their own deserved attention. ;)

No ext3 boot needed

Postby PaulF » Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:56 pm

I got my daily podcast working with a normal USB stick running by adding some lines to S00custom-options:

Code: Select all
# Before you add the folowing lines you need a clone
# make a clone directory on the stick. I use plugins_clone
#cd to the clone directory
#cp /etc/umsp/plugins/* .
#cp your custom php files to the clone

mkdir -p /tmp/stick
mount /dev/sda1 /tmp/stick
mount --bind /tmp/stick/plugins_clone /etc/umsp/plugins

# /etc/umsp/plugins is now writable
