Here you are. Use at your own risk!
Download any of the following:
http://flashmirrors.com/files/enta01lvnwmxrnr/1.05.04_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.2.0.zip
http://freakshare.com/files/8fzcswc0/1.05.04_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.2.0.zip.html

Could someone confirm whether it works? If it does I could create its own topic.
How could I get access to SVN to submit my changes?

The link is for Plus, right?
I've talked a bit with b-rad on irc and he has nothing against new releases, only that they will not be marked as official releases. I've told him to create a subforum for such releases so that they are grouped nice and tightly someplace known.

As the file name suggests this is for live. Could you verify whether it works? I've build a similar one for plus that I've successfully flashed on my device.

I'd like to try it out, yes, but I'm currently low on time. Whenever I get a bit of time off at home I'll try to flash it (Also, I need to get a serial adapter just in case) :)

I've managed to flash the firmware on my live without issues, but the blocki part/file can't be mounted. This is the logs I get:
Code: Select all
Jan  1 02:00:29 Deneb user.notice S01ipup: getting DHCP IP
Jan  1 02:00:34 Deneb user.notice S01ipup: downloading blocki version 0.5.2.0
Jan  1 02:00:38 Deneb user.notice S01ipup: blocki success!
Jan  1 02:00:38 Deneb user.err kernel: squashfs: version magic '2.6.22.19-19-4--b-rad-especiale preempt mod_unload MIPS32_R2 32BIT ' should be '2.6.22.19-19
-4 preempt mod_unload MIPS32_R2 32BIT '

Code: Select all
root@Deneb:/root# uname -a
Linux Deneb 2.6.22.19-19-4 #9 PREEMPT Mon Aug 1 14:35:04 CST 2011 mips GNU/Linux

As a result, the web interface is down (apache won't start) and UMSP doesn't work (depends on apache).

I propose creating a thread for a beta release of this firmware. So far I can say that it won't brick the device (which is always a good thing).

One more annoying thing - on startup it detects 1.05-0.5.1.1 as a newer firmware and goes to the update screen (even if your version is higher). Not sure how that works.

That's unfortunate. I was afraid the kernel module wouldn't work. Since I don't have a live I cannot do any testing. BTW the plus is running
Code: Select all
# uname -a
Linux WDLXTV-3b71b 2.6.22.19-19-4 #13 PREEMPT Mon May 10 17:11:28 CST 2010 mips GNU/Linux

Wait, you're saying the filesystem needs to be built with a specific version of squashfs? Does it depend on the kernel used?

@TroNik: do you build it from a running system (ext3 firmware), or do you build it offline? It would help if you posted the steps to build the firmware in a thread or in the wiki. I could give it a try for live.

The kernel modules depend on the kernel used. Your error indicates version mismatch. Could you try using zltnngy's file? You can follow the guide how to unpack/repack the firmware. Alternatively if you have a root.bin or rootFS you could use zltnngy's file and see if you can manually mount the bi2 image.
