@mad_ady, followed your advice and concentrated on playing with umsp.php - it made things simpler.

Here is intermediate result: some success in streaming video files at last! The main area was to pass correct protocolInfo for each file.

E.g., for a (WDLXTV) local AVI file to stream to TV, ensure the protocolInfo is something like:

Code: Select all
'protocolInfo' => 'http-get:*:video/x-msvideo:DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0'

or at least:

Code: Select all
'protocolInfo' => 'http-get:*:video/x-msvideo:*'

Following did not work:

Code: Select all
'protocolInfo' => 'http-get:*:*:*'

protocolInfo is usually set in the UMSP plugin, because presumably the plugin author knows best what type of data it's about to send to the device. However, most plugins default to 'http-get:*:*:*' (somewhere inside the belly of /usr/share/umsp). You can change this default to something better and try again with plugins that don't speciffically set it, but I'm curious what would happen if you advertise msvideo and send in an mp4 or mkv file. Detecting the file type based on the res URL is usually impossible as well.

But good find. Keep up the good work!

BubbleUPnP seems to not like generic protocol infos. I changed all my plugins to return 'http-get:*:video/mp4:*' instead of 'http-get:*:video/*:*' (similarly 'http-get:*:audio/mpeg:*' for audio items) and everything works.

For me BubbleUPnP works better since it displays thumbnails and allows search. You have to enable "Force server-side search" (Force server-side search even if the Media Server claims to not support it) in its Settings > UPnP Tweaks.

@TroNik: I've seen you've pushed changes for your plugins. Nice work!
Fell free to edit other plugins as well if needed.

The only other plugin that I use is radiotime for which I already pushed changes.
BTW great work with this UMSP LAN feature.

Let's hope it will make it to a flashable firmware in the future :P

Yes it's a shame that not many people are using it. Most won't bother creating a root.bin from SVN or don't have access to the secret area of the forum (e.g. I don't) to download one. I created a flashable firmware for plus (after figuring out the missing information of how to unpack/repack the bi2 image) synced at head and I versioned it 0.5.2.0 :) since this is what you have at http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/UMSP_plugin_development#Plugins_that_work_with_UMSP_LAN_feature
I'd be happy to release it if it's OK with the current project maintainers.

I'm not the one to give the go-ahead, but if it's a firwmare flashable built from svn, I have nothing against it. I'll let b-rad know about it - hopefully he'll give you the rights to post it (or will put it through the paces and make an official release out of it) :)

While you're at it, can you make one for live? :P Unfortunaly the Live base was not migrated to the bi2 format and there's very little free space left when building such an image.

Well I don't have a live so I am not motivated doing these changes.
But first of all, does the live have sigmablocki? Can you modify it with the following command?
Code: Select all
dd if=wdtvlive2.bi2 of=/dev/sigmblocki bs=16384
Can you then mount it?

Yes you can dd to blocki on live. As I wrote in nitty gritty I created a ext3 partition on it. It is about 92 megs big, the same size as sigmblockh.
