Similar Youtube Portuguese Content

Postby biomedica » Fri May 20, 2011 10:13 am

Hi everyone,

There is this Portuguese media portal, which is quite similar to Youtube, however it is mainly focused on Portuguese content. I would like to know if any of you could help me develop a new UMSP plugin that would basically retrieve any videos for example by doing a search. Also, there are some RSS feeds for some of the channels. For those I am able to retreive the videos by using one of the plugins already done by someone else from here.

http://videos.sapo.pt/search.html?order=news&word=coruche

http://videos.sapo.pt/ultimos.html

http://videos.sapo.pt/top.html

http://videos.sapo.pt/votes.html

These are the 3 main links which I would love to know how to retrieve them and get them to work with the WDTV box.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

It can be done, but you need to develop a full plugin for it.

Since I don't have time right now for this, I suggest you look at how other plugins are made (e.g. the adult plugins use page scraping) and you can try to adapt them for your site. You will need to understand a bit of php and regular expressions to do the job. If you don't have programming experience it could be a great learning project :)

Yeah, well I have tried to do that but I gave up because I couldn't get the php script to parse the links. I guess I just don't have enough programming knowledge in order to develop the plugin by myself. But, I guess if someone wants to do this someday, it can be a very good plugin.
