Finally, I got fw 1.02 working which boots wdtvext much faster from flash (around 60 sec)

With fw 1.02 you get it all:

-true random shuffle by default
-can handle large playlist files without crashing
-can add Random Music Player to shuffle recursively thru sub-folders if you want to
-has 0.5.1.1 kernel so can get true 0 watts standby mode
-boots quickly from flash
-support wdtvext
-media library works properly (on 1.03 it would be forever stuck in "scanning media library")

very happy :)

Thanks to all.

... until you want to play some specific mkv files :)
But IMHO, the 1.02 release is the most feature-packed and stable of all. I (and recliq) are still using it.

I was afraid of that. It also does not play some of my .mp4 audio files :(

I suppose it's possible to use ffmpeg to convert the file to a compatible format. I'm thinking, a wdtvext app with a GUI that can select files for conversion so you don't have to use the command line

I have installed 1.02.21_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.2.2 on my Live-player, downloaded the Random Music Player plugin, enabled it, rebooted and now is the big question:

How do I get it to work? I have tried on the remote both REV and FF standning on a mp3-folder, also tried directly on a mp3-file in a mp3-folder but nothing happens? Am I doing something wrong?

Have you navigated to:
Plugin is only Function in Music -> Local Drives

You can also enable wdtvext debugging somewhere. You should get some output in /tmp/dmaosd.log each time you press a key.

No, xmounts should be fine. See if you can see anything in /tmp/dmaosd.log.
