nope nothing obvious

config looks ok

I wonder is there anything more from dmaosd.log

there's only 1 line you posted that comes from this plugin
and it appears to be just the inital on page created logger

with the current version, the majority of the code, including log info is run and then log info created when you press the search button to try and play a trailer
below only shows 1 initial logger,
there should be tons and tons of log info, plugin is over 600 lines
and the majority of it all runs when pressing the search button

Hi KAD,

Here is a log extract with more lines from the Trailer plugin:

Trailer: [onPageKey] page: basic_browse_thumb_video.xml key: 53
Trailer: [ onPageKey ] (isMediaListPage) key: 53
Trailer: [ setSearchName starting]
Trailer: Check if Trailer already found
Trailer: [ searchstream]
Trailer: [ checkFile ]
Trailer: checking: /tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4
Trailer: file found.
Lib: [executeCmd]
Lib: [executeCmd] cmd: play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"
Lib: [executeCmd] completed.
Trailer: playTrailer: /tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4
Trailer: [ onPageCreated ]
server_handler_get_support_obj_type_with_udn[1989],mask = 1

Looks good in the logs, but on the screen I get the "Search / File Name" screen immediately.
The mp4 trailer file is not played. I have renamed the file by removing the "." at the beginning, and the trailer plays fine.

I have tried from the command line :
# play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"
-sh: play: not found

Also if it can be of any help :
# ls -l /tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4
-rwxrwxrwx 1 1024 100 34593848 May 16 2012 /tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4

interesting log data.

so first some basics
Code: Select all
which play
which upnp-meta

both of these should return the actual path to these scripts

So if I follow
Code: Select all
play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"
-sh: play: not found

but if you 1. rename without the dot
2. try from cmd line again
Code: Select all
play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/movie_Trailer.mp4"

it will probably play

also it would be interesting
to try without dot
Code: Select all
upnp-meta "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/movie_Trailer.mp4"

then again with dot
Code: Select all
upnp-meta "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"

and compare the output of the two

Hi,

Here are the outputs :

Code: Select all
# which play
# which upnp-meta
/usr/bin/upnp-meta
#

So the basics are not covered, this "play" script or binary is not present on my system... :(
Do you know what could be the reason ?

So, it doesn't matter if it's with or without dot in the movie name, I get the same result:
Code: Select all
# play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/movie_Trailer.mp4"
-sh: play: not found
# play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"
-sh: play: not found

Now with upnp-meta :
Code: Select all
# upnp-meta "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"
<DIDL-Lite xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:metadata-1-0/DIDL-Lite" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:upnp="urn:schemas-upnp-org:metadata-1-0/upnp/"><item id="3/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4" parentID="3/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films\/" restricted="0"><dc:title>.movie_Trailer.mp4</dc:title><dc:date></dc:date><upnp:class>object.item.imageItem</upnp:class><dc:creator></dc:creator><upnp:genre></upnp:genre><upnp:artist></upnp:artist><upnp:album></upnp:album><res protocolInfo="file-get:*:*::DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00000000001000000000000000000000" protection="" tokenType="0" bitrate="0" duration="" size="34593848" colorDepth="0" ifoFileURI="" resolution="">file:///tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4</res></item></DIDL-Lite>
#

Same without a "." :
Code: Select all
# upnp-meta "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/movie_Trailer.mp4"
<DIDL-Lite xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:metadata-1-0/DIDL-Lite" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:upnp="urn:schemas-upnp-org:metadata-1-0/upnp/"><item id="3/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/movie_Trailer.mp4" parentID="3/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films\/" restricted="0"><dc:title>movie_Trailer.mp4</dc:title><dc:date></dc:date><upnp:class>object.item.imageItem</upnp:class><dc:creator></dc:creator><upnp:genre></upnp:genre><upnp:artist></upnp:artist><upnp:album></upnp:album><res protocolInfo="file-get:*:*::DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=00000000001000000000000000000000" protection="" tokenType="0" bitrate="0" duration="" size="34593848" colorDepth="0" ifoFileURI="" resolution="">file:///tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/movie_Trailer.mp4</res></item></DIDL-Lite>

But with the following 2 lines, it works, Trailer is played ! :D
Code: Select all
# upnp-cmd SetAVTransportURI file:////tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4
# upnp-cmd Play

now that I look back at your first post

Version : WDTV Live 1.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.7.3
might need to look to update your firmware

I think play script was added at version 5.0

other options
if you're on ext firmware you can add it yourself, it can be found on the svn under /usr/bin/play

if that's also not an option, you seem fairly comfortable with linux basics
you could edit the actuall plugin, which is written in js
play script just simplifies the upnp-cmd that you used
you would want to include the output of upnp-meta

if proper meta-data is not present, system will display incorrect filename, etc ..
and if no meta-data is present system will play the video behind the osd (i.e. you hear the sound, but dont see the video)

Hi,

Thanks, I have upgraded to 0.5.1.1 firmware, and now the Trailer is played (with the dot) !!
When I press "search" I get :
- The "Loading Trailer" picture
- The page Search / File Name
- The Trailer

But when the trailer is finished, or if I press stop, I go back to the page "Search / File Name" ( search.xml I think).
If I press the "back" button, I go back to the "Loading Trailer" picture. I can't get back to the list of films (I'm in wall view).
Coul you please tell me the specific key to press to go back to the films list ?

When I press "search" to play trailer:
Code: Select all
key=53
Trailer: [onPageKey] page: basic_browse_thumb_video.xml   key: 53
Trailer: [ onPageKey ] (isMediaListPage) key: 53
Trailer: [ setSearchName starting]
Trailer: Check if Trailer already found
Trailer: Trailer already found
Lib: [executeCmd]
Lib: [executeCmd]  cmd: play "/tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4"
Lib: [executeCmd]  completed.
Trailer:  playTrailer: /tmp/media/usb/Videos/Films/.movie_Trailer.mp4

I haven't seen that behavior before
sounds odd, maybe a bug

I've also never had the search.xml come up

is there a specific theme you're using, or maybe media library is on??

so I'm looking through the code, this should at least fix the loading screen is stuck on, not tested

open Trailer.plugin.js - I'd also recommend, be sure to use a real text editor, maybe notepad++, don't use windows notepad
at line 230 is currently
Code: Select all
res3 = executeCmd("play \"" + Trailer + "\"", 3);

add this at line 230
Code: Select all
Page.Top.setParam("Loading_Icon_disable", "0")

so that it will look like this
Code: Select all
} else {  //start playback for local trailer
   Page.Top.setParam("Loading_Icon_disable", "0")
   res3 = executeCmd("play \"" + Trailer + "\"", 3);
   this.debug.Log(" playTrailer: " + Trailer, 3);
}

- Yes I have Media Library set to "on". But if I turn it to "off" I loose my NAS connexion in the local drives.
I go to Videos/Local Drives/Folders to access my NAS.
This NAS connexion is mounted via net.mount located on a USB stick.

- I modified the code to the plugin, in dmaosd.log, I see that I'm browsing, but on my TV, it is still displaying "Loading.jpg" picture.
It is not displaying the "wall".

I guess, I'll have to actually get my device plugged back in and give some things a try

I've never used media library

until I get a fix put together
maybe you want to just delete the loading.jpg
found inside the plugin folder

Removing the Loading.jpg file allowed to go back to the Wall when pressing the "back" button.

So the sequence is the following :
- On the Wall, then I press the search button
- Page Search/File Name is displayed briefly
- Trailer plays
- At the end, or when I press "stop", I go back to the search page
- If I press the "back" button, I go back to the wall of thumbnails, and I can play another one
