While browsing the forum recently I read a post where someone asked for a way to display messages on OSD.
Well in his case a different way was chosen because he was using 1.05 based firmware but it reminded me of this little plugin.
It's not really new but I always thought I would add more features before releasing it - I never did
So I just release this basic version maybe it's of use for someone.
This plugin looks periodically for a file /tmp/notice.osd. If this file is found the plugin reads the first line and displays the text in OSD for a short time.
It then removes the first line of the file and repeats this procedure until the file is empty.
The plugin then removes the file and waits for a new one to be created.
The plugin is available via WDTVExt plugins repository.
* Download the plugin from OSD WDTVExt plugins menu.
You can configure the delay between checks for new messages to display and the time each message line is displayed on the screen in webend
WEC -> WDTVExt Plugins -> OSD Notice
To display messages from scripts or commandline simply echo some text to /tmp/notice.osd
- Code: Select all
echo -e "This is the first line\n...and here is a second one.\n;)" >> /tmp/notice.osd
