Major problem: how many people occurred this?

Postby gpica » Tue Jul 06, 2010 9:02 am

I'd like to use WDTVExt (copying WDTVExt.app.bin and plugin folder in the root of USB) for a lot of reasons. MediaNavigation, Remote, etc.

But never get it to work: at cold reboot the device freeze while loading OSD.
Strangest thing: it happens even without plugins in folder "plugins".
:-(

If the WDTVExt.app.bin file was corrupted then it could cause this problem. Try re-downloading this file, and replace the one you're using with the new copy.

Also, make sure you're using the correct version of this file. There is a 'regular' version, and a 'live' version, and it needs to match which hardware you have.

Oh, and when you have many many files (2000+) on any attached drive then WDTVExt will scan every file to see if its a plugin. This scan can take so long that it makes it seem like there is a freeze, but it will finish eventually. Before I fixed this, it would take 5 minutes to boot up! (I have lots of files on my drive)

I have this problem as well. Do the lights on the unit blink when it freezes?

If both the lights blink during bootup (or any other time) it means something crashed on your box. When working with wdtvext, this happens if there's something wrong with one of the plugins. It could also happen if the wdtvext bin file is corrupted. If the wdtvext bin file is the wrong version for your box then I think wdtvext just won't work.

What wdtv hardware version, wdlxtv version, and wdtvext version are you using?

Wdtv live, wdlxtv-live 0.4.2, wdtvext-live 0.23.5. The only plugin I'm using is AutoZoom, which works.

(Though I made no changes to s00custom-options, I'm just using what recliq provided here ->http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=916&start=20#p7375).

If you stop wdtvext from loading during boot (thus no plugin support) then does the problem still happen?
