practicle, no, the WDTV's CPU is just too weak for major transcoding or rendering tasks such as creating moviesheets
also you would likely loose a lot of the flexibility that thumbgen currently has

for these who dosn't need eye-candy wallpapers,
just brief text info about movie it could be a way to go.
box performance should not be an issue here.

what i've found, rezmus used picto osd with pibos WDTVExt Live 0.23 release and example plugin ExtSheet.
it shall be possible to setup his configuration using 1.02.21_4.5.3 fw as well. well, its time to digg
code a little and port this plugin.
