By local, i assume you mean a external HDD connected straight to your WD. All of my shares I can normally access straight through the "Network Shares" option and I just pull up the drive and the folders onthe WD Live. I recently connected a new external drive to my computer ( have 3 WD My Book's that I use to store all of my music and movies), and the drive shows under the "Network Shares" but it gives the "No media present in current folder" message when I try to access the files under the drive. I have the drive and all of the folders set as shares for 'Everyone' like my other drives that work just fine.

yes, I mean with external HDD's,

as for that error message, it's usually a result of permissions issue, either permissions incorrectly set, or firewall blocking access

Yes! I finally got it to work with cifs. There is an issue with spaces in file names. I took them all out and it worked just fine.

Thanks for all of the help and input guys!

By the way KAD, I'm still lovin the Eye Candy!

it's included in the download, but you can certainly create one if you like, it's just a folder to contain all the needed images
it's easiest to place the folder on the same drive as the osd.bin
then enter the path on the wec

Very Nice KAD! I love the new black and gold! how do you get your thumbs to show at the bottom and the movie sheet to show in the background, like in your updated demo's?

thanks, dave

I think I got it- I just had to reboot.

But one more question- why on every reboot do I have to remount my cifs shares?

reboot or power off (cord unplugged), the device needs to restart and re-run every script, just like a computer

if you're having to manually mount the shares after each reboot then something is wrong with either net.mounts or you need to add net.mounts delay on wec so that the script is properly executed
