You should take the latestt version. Right now it's still 1.02.21-WDLXTV-0.4.3 but 0.4.7 will appear soon...

Gentlemen, thank you! Feels like there is a million versions of the FW.

I tried my best to install the version you said.
I changed the wdtvlive.ver by using Notepad++ from 1.02.21 to:

- 1.20.21
- 1.60.21
- 2.1.02.21
- 9.02.21

And always hard rebooted the box. Then:
- WD logo
- black screen (automatic reboot)
- WDLXTV-Live Custom loading screen

It doesnt want to downgrade... The stick is formatted to FAT32. The first upgrade (1.03.49_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3) worked fine with it.

EDIT: Now i tried to change the whole versions number from VERSION='1.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3' to

- VERSION='9.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-9.4.5.3' and
- VERSION='999.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-999.4.5.3'

without any effect.

if this is the firmware you have currently installed, check in system information page, in the menu's
1.03.49_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3

edit the 1 digit like this in the .ver file

1.04.49_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3

The installed Version is "1.03.49_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3" (Systeminfo)

I want to install "1.02.21_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3".

So i changed the wdlxtvlive.ver from

VERSION='1.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3'

to

VERSION='1.04.49_V_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3'
and
1.04.49_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3 (what u said)
and
1.04.49_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3 (i guess u meant i need to write EXACTLY the same name as the installed version has(?), voila!)

Then i pulled the plug, hard reboot, nothing happened.

I'll need an insane asylum soon.

with the .ver file you should never need to change anything more than 1 digit. and I always use the .ver file included with the download,

KAD & Group ya’ll are the bestest! 8-)
I am running WDTV Live with 1.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.5.3 (or trying to) with EyE Candy 1.5.

4 quick questions then I will leave you alone! :?:

1. Should I be seeing background changes with every time an item changes (ie Under video see a car or Under WDTVExt plugins see Yoda)? Cause I’m not!

2. I deleted the default box info in WEBEND>config>OSD>background_image, what is the default or what should I put in there?

3. Under WEBEND>config>OSD tab>OSD Eyecandy should the VALUE say:

–c MENUSHEETDIR=/tmp/media/usb/USB1/3480-9806/MENUSHEETDIR
Or
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/3480-9806/MENUSHEETDIR

4. Is there anywhere I can find a GOOD tutorial for the WEBEND?
Thanks in advance..dll (FNG)

1. yes, background should change
3. it will be specific for each person's set up, that's why it's blank for you to put in the correct path
use the file manager on webend to browse till you get to MENUSHEETDIR, then input that path for the value
in general value should always start with
Code: Select all
/tmp/media/usb/
next items are your variables, USB1 or USB2, then how does your drive display, mine is that series of #'s, and on the drive of coarse we find the folder called "MENUSHEETDIR"
2. doesn't matter for eye candy osd, what value in is here, usually default is villa_bg.jpg
4.I'm not sure if there is a tutorial on the webend, most of the stuff, if relatively straight forward

another tip with eye candy,is to make sure you enable the menusheet plugin, you can do this on screen under WDTVext Plugins, providing you placed the plugin in the .wdtvext-plugins folder

Thanks for the super fast reply. I am going to start over and re-do everything again and see if it works the way it should, I'll post any success or near-success! Thanks again..dll

**UPDATE**
KAD your post here dtd Jan 14, 2011 was a perfect step by step for setting this up on a WDTV Live box! What really helped was the part on how to set up the path on webend, I had to find my numbers for my USB1, once I had those and plugged them everything worked like a charm. I think the biggest thing for us newbie's is to SLOW DOWN & READ (carefully). Thanks again everyone, now it's on to tweking movie sheets! dll :D
