I'm still using the EYE Candy OSD on my WD Live and recently (all of the sudden) the display started showing this:

Name: $$Video
Title: $$Video
FIle: xxxxxxxxxxxxx (file name)

This is dependent on what my selection is.

all of the rest of the OSD is intact.

Do you know why it would be displaying this text?

thanks,

Yes, I know exactly what that is

It's a debugging option built into the MenuSheets plugin
it's configurable in WEC under the section for eyecandy
select
MENUSHEET_DEBUG=OFF

then reboot to make it disappear

OSD Mods won't affect subtitles, and if you don't like it, you just have to delete the file from the USB drive and reboot...

Of course, you'd have to "downgrade" to 1.05-based wdlxtv firmware for your device to be able to use a OSD Mod. If you don't like it, you can revert back to 1.06 afterwards - there is no risk.

I think this version of EYE CANDY needs WDTVExt and 1.02.21 based firmware, correct me if I'm wrong...

yeah folder thumbnails should be named folder.jpg
file thumbnails <moviename>.jpg

and doesn't change for any osd mod, but glad you found the right version for your firmware
