[fixed]svn not working for me

Postby PaulF » Wed Feb 13, 2013 4:47 pm

I made a few commits for my new UMSP radiotime plugin and now I can no longer make changes.

Code: Select all
> svn commit -m "added language support and sleep timer to radiotime"
svn: E175002: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: E175002: MKACTIVITY of '/svn/UMSP/!svn/act/af9851c8-f291-41c5-b861-f7c6ed05c57f': Could not read status line: Secure connection truncated (https://svn.wdlxtv.com)
Exit 1

Also, I can't browse the files on svn.wdlxtv.com on my PC or phone web browser.

I was to last person to do a commit. I hope I didn't do something wrong.

Anyone else having problems?

I was able to do a svn update without issues.
I tried to make a change and do a commit (on youtube-subscriptions), and I encountered the same problem:
Code: Select all
<riptions]# svn commit -m "Test commit. Nothing changed"
svn: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: MKACTIVITY of '/svn/UMSP/!svn/act/b1dc7b34-088a-4651-824e-20219d41c136': Could not read status line: Secure connection truncated (https://svn.wdlxtv.com)

Something seems stuck...

Regarding the web svn interface, I can browse the repos, but I can't open any php files. This is not related to this issue - it's something b-rad's paranoid firewall has been doing for a while...

Some peoples from Russia tell about don't have access to https://svn.wdlxtv.com
(this ip diapason 194.60.245.XX) around a week. So cant see any plugins.
Around 2-3 weeks ago site and repos was really slow.
And one more..
Why in 1.05 dont used svn (like in 1.02) but used wget for svn export?
As I know svn - more speedy for client and not so hard for svn server...

svn was dropped in the 0.5.x release in both 1.02 and 1.05 base firmwares to reduce firmware size (the svn binaries and dependent code took up ~15M if I remember correctly). Thus they changed to wget and added svn to devtools.app.bin instead.

Anyway, in most cases, when you boot up and download UMSP plugins svn doesn't really help because you still have to download the whole file - like wget does. The only benefit is when updating the differences...

Can't comment on this, since it seems to be affecting only ppl from that area I'd guess they were blocked by their provider or their provider had problems with their routes to USA.
I have not had any issues during that time and haven't heard until now.

The site had some problems last two weeks, should be solved now.

KAD is right, all external content (UMSP/WDTVExt plugins and apps) are hosted on http repository (not svn), repo is dynamically generated from svn on commits.
I wanted to post some background details on the wiki long ago, enabling users to set up their own repos (firmware already supports this)...
but I never wrote this :(. I was too lazy to write lots of instructions and explanations for maybe two ppl using it.

If there is serious interest in this just tell me ;) maybe you can persuade me to do it.
:geek:

PS: Having said that the plugins come from simple http repository - it's quite easy to mirror them, this might be a solution to problem no. 1. If you have a server where you can mirror the repos in russia, let me know (see wiki comment above) :ugeek:

I added a feature while was waiting for the fix and it took me all flippin day to fix what I did. I have no need for a suppository. :D

If you are having firewall problems. browsing with https has been know to befuddle snooping firewalls.

1) about https.. may be need to generate good certificate?
2) peoples with problem try to solve it via own provider (fixed already)
3) yesterday 20:00 UTC forum.wdlxtv.com was down for all (have a screenshots)
4) now i understand svn-https scheme and seems to me it have a problem with deleted files.
If I do svn del xx.x
via svn export all good - no deleted file
via wget scheme on some Live Plus or may be all 0.5.. - file xx.x still exists.
Check please

regarding 4)
Are you talking about UMSP repo? Can you give me an example plugin where this happens?
I have a hunch what might cause this, it might be due to the post-commit script inner workings...
If you commit a change to umsp svn the script that builds the repo exports the svn tree to /tmp and creates .tgz files. Since the script uses svn export it can happen that there is still an old version in /tmp which will get overwritten by the svn export BUT export won't delete files which were deleted from svn.

I guess I have to wipe the temp dir before exporting... I will have a look at this.
