How to boot wdlxtv directly from a flash device or hdd

Have a question about devices internals, memory layout, reverse engineering, etc---This is the place for anything so technical that it would cause a n00b's head to 'splode

danke.

couldn't get it to work the svn way (maybe cause I wasn't root when doing it), tried the root.bin way, which looks to work :)

Now, I still have the issue using this version or ext3 why I started to play around, each time I play a movie, it plays, but keeps the OSD on top, and does not accept any IR commands anymore.

I already completely rest to factory defaults, and thought it was better, now starting again, with 1.05.04 FW's. looks better with 1.02.21 (need more testing...)

will probably open a separate post for it with some dmaosd.logs...

Any osd.bin active? I know this can happen if you try to use a 1.02 osd.bin on 1.05 firmware...

Nope :( , just the plain ext3 or .rootFS no additional .bins...

the FW in flash is still a 0.4.x release, maybe I need to flash a new one & see, although it has worked for months ...
think I'll reset Factory FW again to see....

tx for your ideas :)

about the issue that the WDTV hangs showing the info bar at 0;0

Looks like changing the HDMI option in the option menu to allow WDTV to adapt to framerate might be the issue.

Will check later further, but disabling does seem to work.
